Cowart's Common Room
Next Lesson

Well after last night's farce I mean class - I think you could all do with the rest of the week to practice your eyebrow raising . . . please let me know if you need any help.

Next weeks lesson will be on Tuesday at 18.00 (Monday is Bank Holiday) and will be on THE STARE.

Each week we will slowly work our way through the use of body language to emphasis the point we are trying to make, working up to the full FLOUNCE in a few weeks time.

So tuck your vests in, pull your socks up and practice, practice, practice those eyebrows.

Milla's Avatar oh The Stare, I have plenty!
The one beneath which lurks a psycho killer and aimed mainly at the the children, a silent warning NOT to dare to grab my attention in public when am busying gabbling and wine drinking with my chums;
partners too have their own look, often deployed when a friend is round and you can't let rip quite how you'd like, leading to the "I thought you said that YOU were going to tidy up / book the babysitter / do the homework with Junior / etc" stare (this one involves flared nostrils and perhaps requires a separate workshop all of its own?
Then there is a variety of stares especially for those lucky enough NOT to be a member of your own family: a senior citizen maybe, out walking their dog who is striding purposefully towards you in unpleasant slacks, ready to deliver you of a lecture regarding your inability to control your dog to army standards of obedience;
a warning one for someone preparing to cut you up in a supermarket queue / at the traffic lights.
My, I feel a term's worth of debate in the offing here.

Kat's Avatar I have a dog that has this stare down to a fine art Linked Image

She even has the icey blue eyes!

Posted by: Kat on 29th Apr 2008 at 03:18PM

Kat's Avatar It is what we know here as "The Mad Face".

Fennie's Avatar Now stares I can do. Mad stares, bored stares, or even spiral stairs. It's the eyebrows that fox me. And I am practising, honest! Either they both move together or I have to close one eye. If I close the left eye then the right eyebrow raises most agreeably, but I fear closing one eye will destroy the effect. Help please.

Elizabethd's Avatar This, I think, is what my children used to call 'my navy blue look'.
What vivid imaginations they had, the darlings!

Westerwitch's Avatar Fennie . . .IF YOU CAN'T RAISE ONE EYEBROW . . . .sorry didn't mean to shout - then raise BOTH . . .but just a very small amount . . .sigh

Oh, I WANT this dog, what a wonderful face. Is this one of your Familiars WW?

I am consulting with my cats as they have The Stare down pat and use it on everything from the postman, to the birds in the garden (through the window) the husband when he wants one of their resting places to sit, to the wall. All cat owners will know that look, makes you think aliens or ghosts are there and you just cannot see them.
Very Happy
