Jackofall's Avatar When one sends of a manuscript to a publisher or agent, you pay just the cost of postage. It seems a little rich to have to pay 6 for each poem you submit to this competition.

Westerwitch's Avatar HS as chairman of the Scottish BIPP is running a competition for the Scottish BIPP - the entry fee is to cover the judges fees etc and to cover any admin costs.

Milla's Avatar Yes, put like that, a publisher might hope to earn something out of the submissions he shifts through, whereas a judge is surely being more altruistic.

Exmoorjane's Avatar Also, Arvon a great cause - if the money is going to it.....they do bursaries etc for people on low incomes and the properties take a heck of a lot of upkeep. I saw this and thought would be great for some of our poets too.
