Cowart's Common Room
A scream over Shropshire!

The scene...late evening, dusk falling, house looks as though it has imploded ...(we're lambing)..himself and youngest son sprawled in front of the TV just getting their strength back in time for next session in lambing shed. Phone rings...I answer it to find farmer friend and immediately dive into sheep conversation...whilst doing so I ran my fingers through my hair as you do....only to find there was something quite large and furry stuck in there......i freaked, dropped phone ran into the others, 'Get it out quick, whatever it is get it OUT- NOW!' They both slowly rose to their feet and peered into my hair ......'Oh that IS GROSS...yuk yuk yuk...cant touch that....gary look at this ...go and get some kitchen roll......!' By this time hysteria, hyperventilation, screaming as though throat cut... you name it ...I was it...I cant bear things in my hair ..vile vile vile.....!!! ( I can have exclamation marks in this cant I ?) 'P'raps we ought to get the nature book and i/d it first' youngest son...I have got REAL TEARS at this point.....Hubby obviously thinks I am about to have heart failure gingerly reaches forward whilst holding me still in an arm lock.....and removes A PUSSY WILLOW CATKIN!
I went nonchalantly back to the phone to carry on conversation with bemused farmer friend ....'Are you alright?' he asked, 'Didnt quite know whether to call the coastguard or David Bellamy there...you had me quite worried!'
I'll get 'em back never fear........Evil or Very Mad

Re:
Faith's Avatar Oh you poor thing! How awful! It reminds me of two occasions that happened to me.

1. I was a teenager at my sister's farm and had enjoyed a lovely walk at dusk wending my way down the lane and back again. I went straight upstairs to bed, a misty smile on my face and wild flowers in my hands, only to discover in the mirror...... TWO spiders in my hair! Not too large but big enough to give me a shockShocked

2. I was a mum to 10 year old Em and one calm early evening she calls me into the kitchen in panic 'Mum, get this offfff me!'. I rush in and there is a huge spider on her arm. I just went hysterical, screaming, crying.... I don't know why it affected me so badly...... especially as it was a transfer tattoo! I think she was more upset in the end as Mum had lost the plot!

Re:
Lily's Avatar Exclamation marks certainly allowed where they add to the drama, as here. My remark was aimed at the breathless excitement on every post when the subject did not merit such treatment. (not this site). Only a personal opinion anyway.
Your story reminded me of having lunch after hedge trimming when I glanced down to see something wrigglling from my caesarian scar, turned out to be a tick. Quite put me off my lunch.

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Ok . . . looks round furtively - we need to plan your revenge carefully.

Do they have any phobias, or dislikes . . .

Re:
Mountainear's Avatar Come to think of it - I did hear screams from across the valley last night.

Your story did make me giggle - they are so so cruel. Revenge necessary. Will help you plot.

LittleBrownDog's Avatar That's hilarious, Snailbeachshepherdess! I'm incredibly impressed someone wasn't throttled, or are you planning your revenge as a dish served cold?

Re:
Milla's Avatar very funny. My friend woke one night in a tangle and a scream of something fluttering (I was staying with her) and she screamed "Arrrgh, it's a plastic bag!!" but it wasn't it was a bat, and I can't think why she thought it might be a plastic bag.
Lily's story vile!!! Hadn't seen her anti-! comment, it's Jane we have to be scared of for !!!
