Very pretty and so unusual, I wonder if it is some sort of cross.

Faith's Avatar I don't know anything about flowers, but I moved some violets from outside in the yard river area to the garden - mostly mauve, but some white ones too and this year these ones appeared, so presume you are right Fern.

Westerwitch's Avatar Now we had a little purple flower on a single stem out of a star of low leaves - I was told it was an orchid . . . or maybe a violet . . . but the site where it grew has been completely obliterated by the huge machinery that is felling our forest. Nature has an amazing way of recovering though so hopefully they will return one day.

Suffolkmum's Avatar I love violets but for some reason they don't seem to grow terribly well in m garden, which is unusual, as most things thrive in Suffolk. They're very pretty Faith.

Elizabethd's Avatar Most unusual, maybe a new variety?

Preseli Mags's Avatar That's so pretty. I haven't seen a varigated one before either.

I have some which are white, speckled purple. They are Viola sororia 'Freckles'. Also have a reddish version called rubra. All my white ones seem to have disappeared.

I suspect yours have been fraternising with each other whilst you werent looking and you have a new cross blooming as they are quite incestuous and seed everywhere here.
