Re:
Exmoorjane's Avatar I hate cacti....(ducks). I managed to kill one of the pastards I had as a child (but by heck it took time and effort to neglect it enough). This one, though stunted in growth (should be ten foot by now really and is only about one) is tenacious and I have to admire it.
btw, cacti are very bad news in feng shui (which will please all devotees of feng ****e). Twisted Evil

Re:
Inthemud's Avatar I was given the Observer book of cacti when i was about 8 , so nearly 40 years ago, I collected cacti, had huge numbers of them on the window sills in the upstairs corridor!

I have several Observer books, my godmothers gave them to me for birthdays!

Re:
Wizzard's Avatar I dont know the name of it, but to propogate from it you can remove the side nodules and pot them up - may be easier if you ease the cacti from it's pot (make a tube of newspaper to wrap round the prickles!) and then carefully (I said CAREFULLY! - get a plaster for that!) remove some of the nodules so they have wee roots on them. Put the parent back into it's pot - watch out for the spike.... too late! Then plant up the nodules in a gritty compost (you might want to make a wee noose of newspaper to hold them!).

Once established you can pot the new plants on into individual pots.
