When I was told I had won a copy of a book , bound to be a publishers remainder or something dire I thought and I wasn't overly excited .I totally forgot about it until a package arrived with a copy of A Woman's Europe" by Marybeth Bond. Published as part of thier travellers tales it turns out to be and excellent read made up of true stories from women writers about thier adventures in Europe and is full of stories of exuberhant suprises.

Pester your local library now!

ps this badly reproduced painting is of Freya Stark that most inspiring of woman travellers and was painted by Herbert Oliver in 1923

Re:
Frances's Avatar Thank you for this book recommendation, and congratulations on winning it, however it was that it happened to happen!

I will ask my library about it ... they do often comply with requests, and the books don't have to be from American publishers. May I ask for the publisher's name as it will make my request more likely to be pursued.
