Cowart's Common Room
I feel SO ill!

Oooooh! Just had to have a moan - I've caught Tom's man flu and I wish I'd been kinder to him. Serves me right! Eyes feel like p*ssholes in the snow, nostrils as if someone's shoved hot pokers up them and everything aches. So far poor Ma, who is staying with us seems ok - just hope she escapes this! OOoooH, Slumps back off to Sofa of Lurgydom.

Preseli Mags's Avatar Oh no! Poor you. Snuggle up on the sofa with a hot water bottle and a large bRandy and Coopol slammer. I'm sure headmistress will be along soon to tell you to tuck your vest in...

I hope you're better soon,

Kat's Avatar Keep yer distance, gal...Wink I just got over this kind of thing not long ago. I sympathize with you completely! What you need is about 3 days in bed, lots of tea and hot soup whether you want it or not!

Milla's Avatar POOR YOU. Best never to scoff at a man with man flu, just to enhance the recipricocity, however much it hurts. You've obviously been overdoing it so take it easy, relax under that rug and just let it take its course. All the best as soon as poss xxx

Ivy's Avatar Oh poor you my son has had it all week and returned from school today with 39.6 temp... (cruel mother that I am I thought he could go as he has to sit some exams in 3 weeks time) hope the rest does not catch it before Sunday as it is daughter's big day (confirmation)
Hope the worst is over for you ad that you are the last in line to catch it. Lots of fluids and let the others spoil you.

Fennie's Avatar Welcome to the viral club! And that's what you get for scoffing. Still brace up, sympathy never did anyone any good. What you need are a couple of aspirins, dispersible for preference, and a stiff glass of malt whisky and then a good night's rest. Oh and the right to do nothing but read a good book or watch a film. Best of luck, Fenniexx

Get well soon Chris, rest lots and plenty of fluids! xx

Cait's Avatar You know what you must do Chris. Drink fluids and also drink
hot toddies/Calpol and brandy slammers. Honey, lemon, Vitamin C, echinacea - the latter for a few days only. Chicken soup, good book, mindless TV.
Keep warm and REST.
Get well soon.

Hi Chris

Sorry to hear you feel so ill.

I have to say if it is anything like I had recently (and it does sound like it) it is PROPER FLU. I was ill for over 3 weeks and in bed for 6 days-so be told! I have flu jab too because of my health issues-but the doc told me a second strain has got through this year not covered by the jab-it is indeed pretty virulent.

Take to your bed, plenty of fluids and paracetemol for the aching. Night nurse was the only thing that helped me-knocked me out at night, only for a couple of hours at a time, but it was better than before I started taking it.
Most of all BE GOOD-
Be warned as soon as you think you feel fine and can get up and about it will come back and bite you in the bum!!

Take care and best wishes

Camilla's Avatar Dear Chris,

Oh I am sorry to hear that you have dreaded flu bug, lots of fluids, rest in bed with lots of books, and hot toddies, hope you will soon be feeling better.

Pondside's Avatar Big sympathy from this side of the pond, Chris. Only one thing for it - go straight to a hot bath and then bed with big glass of whiskey and sleep, sleep, sleep. Say no to all requests that require you to exert yourself for the next week so that you recover. And don't say anything that even vaguely sounds like "I'm feeling a wee bit better" within hearing distance of any man as it will be assumed that you can now carry on ploughing the fields, chopping the wood and all the other things I know you do in a normal day!
