I don't have a first blog.Confused

Posted by: ZoŽ on 10th Apr 2008 at 12:47PM

Neither do I. I do feel it is a bit unhealthy harking back all the time to CL. It is all rather irrelevant nowadays.

Peterwf's Avatar I am sure I can get round the rules somehow, especially with the vagaries of internet self presentation.
Maybe invent another self to go with my alto "higher" self.
I may find I have blogged in a previous life.Cool

Westerwitch's Avatar Hi ZoŽ I think it was Faith who suggested that for those who don't have a first blog - you imagine what it would be like to meet us all for the first time and do a blog based on that. Same for you PW.

Penny I know what you mean - but forget where the first blogs were - the place is no longer important - it is the meeting that counts and I have have lovely memories of meeting everyone for the first time.

Exmoorjane's Avatar Why not have two 'games'? I personally would love to re-read the first blogs (nothing to do with the comp but because they were the first introduction to people). I suggested before that, for people who do not blog, that maybe they might like to do (just for us) a 'first blog'.....not any need to start up a blog page - just write it in the forum.
But, if people are not into this as a game, why not then just have a place to bung up first blogs if you feel like it? Not in any particular order, not called.......

I don't think anyone really harks back to CL now - that all died down ages brought a lot of us together and will always be grateful for that. I apologise for possibly bringing it up with my talk about getting rid of my old posts/blogs there.... But we're all (hopefully) grown-ups and can't let the past muck up the present. Can we?

Posted by: Exmoorjane on 10th Apr 2008 at 02:02PM

Exmoorjane's Avatar Also, btw and just fyi, a fair few purplecooers were blogging waaaay before the comp....Wink

Posted by: Exmoorjane on 10th Apr 2008 at 02:03PM

Give us a clue Peterwf?

Posted by: Miss penelope on 10th Apr 2008 at 02:04PM

EJ, Faith does state that blogs are to be from CL or here.

Posted by: Miss penelope on 10th Apr 2008 at 02:08PM

Milla's Avatar I'm sure Faith doesn't mind?? And, yup, a pre-comp blogger here, too. Lots of games, all the time, pleasey.

Posted by: Milla on 10th Apr 2008 at 02:16PM

Westerwitch's Avatar The rules aren't set in stone. And CL was merely a vehicle for us all meeting. When Jane says pre comp blogs they were still on CL . . .

Fennie's Avatar I wonder if we couldn't just present edited 'highlights' from some of our early blogs - bits that for one reason or other seemed to 'work' and give a little commentary about the circumstances in which they came to be written. That way we would have something more amusing to offer and it would be more of a 'game' than just a simple cut and paste from the distant past.

A kind of 'pick of the week' but from our own perspective.

What would be fun, though, would be a competition - say the first three lines of a blog and we could all then guess who it was. We could send the blogs to Faith and she would put up the three lines day by day and we would all rack our brains over whose it was.

Posted by: Fennie on 10th Apr 2008 at 04:08PM

Faith's Avatar Fennie, I like that last idea , the 1st three lines thing - nice one!

Miss P, I act only under Headmistress's orders so no worries to me how, which, what or why. I just do what I'm toldWink

Personally I doubt I'd put up my first blog, and def wouldnt do how I met my other half!

Posted by: Faith on 10th Apr 2008 at 04:31PM

Considering I haven't got around to "where I live" and am not much of a blogger, I am not sure I deserve a vote but I am sure some of us later members would enjoy reading the earlier blogs.
Surely over time we could get around to all the ideas. we could even run two at a time so people could just take part in the ones they want.

Posted by: Fern on 10th Apr 2008 at 05:12PM

Exmoorjane's Avatar Yup, I'm with the lot!
I love the 'first three lines' idea (though mine would be painfully obvious)......could post those in the common room and then put the whole thing in a forum a bit later.
I still think it would be great for non-bloggers to do a sort of 'if I did blog, this is what I'd say' thingy.....or not, or whatever. The beauty of here is that we can make our own rules, or not.....or whatever (if it floats your boat, do it...if not, another game will come along soon enough....bit like the Book Club.....I haven't participated in the last few cos I read them before and have totally forgotten them already so have little of value to say)....and how I wanted to put an exclamation mark there but didn't....Wink

Peterwf's Avatar Penny,
There was tristar, but he never blogged,
and there was peterd839 on bebo, but I removed the pictures and words as time moved on.

Posted by: Peterwf on 10th Apr 2008 at 05:30PM

The first blogs please in all there cringe worthy glory Mr. Green not edited! come on lets have a laugh! or not at how we all tried sooo hard to fit into a correct "CL stereo type" [well i did] , and i started to blog before i'd even entered the chat room so i knew no one, and a very pathetic effort it was.. i'd also be interested to see which ones we managed to comment on because there where so many of you "nubies" [remember that] we couldnt keep up ..And we're allowed to harken back so why not it's not unhealthy it's really refreshing to see how we've come on and stuck together and how our blogs have become more "normal" well mine as ... and it's our anniversary isnt it ? or have i missed itRolling EyesWink

Posted by: Bodran on 10th Apr 2008 at 07:53PM

Cait's Avatar I don't think the first blog has anything to do with CL it is just how we got together in the first place which eventually got us here to our purple haven. So I thought it was appropriate to do a 'first blog' for the anniversary. I think all the above ideas are great ones, we can do them all can't we? Some I wouldn't/couldn't join in with but that doesn't matter.

Posted by: Cait on 10th Apr 2008 at 08:53PM

Right, so Faith says that it is to be from CL or here. Then says that WW told her what to say and that she is only obeying orders . WW says that Faith decides what to do!

Just trying to clear up what is what, as a non blogger I dont give a flying **** Just want to know what is expected.

Posted by: Miss penelope on 10th Apr 2008 at 10:26PM

Westerwitch's Avatar OK let's clear this up - I said that Faith had 'suggested' I did not say Faith had told us what to do. I think Faith was very much tongue in cheek when she said she was acting under my orders. And this idea was not from either of us.

The SUGGESTION is that if you want to join in the game you either put up your first blog - for those of us that did a first blog on CL, or you make one up as if it was your first blog on meeting us.

Nothing is 'expected the game is there if you want to take part and if you don't give a flying buck - then don't do it. Simple . . .savvy?

Posted by: Westerwitch on 10th Apr 2008 at 10:55PM

Faith's Avatar Blimey Miss P! The whole thing's only a game you know!

Posted by: Faith on 11th Apr 2008 at 08:10AM

I'm not the one SHOUTING.

Posted by: Miss penelope on 11th Apr 2008 at 08:33AM

Westerwitch's Avatar No but you do seem to be getting in a bit of a tiz about the games please PM me if you are still unsure.

Posted by: Westerwitch on 11th Apr 2008 at 08:54AM

Tattie Weasle's Avatar In for a penny - perhaps as there are no rules as such we do what we feel like on the subject "First Blog" it could either be a reprise of the first blog, a critique of the first blog, what you wished you'd never written/should have written on your first blog, how you came to right your first blog, why you didn't do a first blog and perhaps why you decided not to blog. How you found out about blogging, what you feel about blogging etc etc the list could go on - a bit like the lady last night on the telly who was cooking a desert which was meant to come from/represent Wales and she used a tiny piece of Bara Brith in it: that was the connection...what's so lovely about these games is that we can interpret them as we like. There is no right or wrong way - am I right??????

Posted by: Tattie Weasle on 11th Apr 2008 at 10:00AM

Peterwf's Avatar It is a bit like being married, the important part is making the OH think you are doing as requested.

Posted by: Peterwf on 11th Apr 2008 at 10:11AM

Tattie Weasle's Avatar That made me smile. Good thing my OH is fast asleep at the mo as he's not feeling very well....and he cannot therefore peer over my shoulderLaughing

Posted by: Tattie Weasle on 11th Apr 2008 at 10:18AM

Exmoorjane's Avatar Very right, TattieSmile
