Cowart's Common Room
To Camilla and All

Uploaded Image

Just wanted to say a big thank you for my birthday card put up by Camilla with the two lovely poems and gorgeous pics, she is amazing isn't she with the care she takes over us all And thank you Wizzard for the beautiful cake. And a big thank you to all who left messages for me. I did not discover the post till late last night and I have been on a training day today so could not reply sooner.

I had a sun hat for my birthday and really pretty flowery gardening gloves (very Country Living and far too pretty to make dirty!), Also received chocolates and wine, both very purple coo don't you think? Wish I could share with you.

(she's lying!).

I have treated myself to a much-desired poetry anthology so expect some really good contemporary poems in future blogs. I have also ordered Jack Savoretti's new CD. (Remember I won that money?) And I think I will be spending some of it on plants and maybe a few new clothes.

Bye for now.
Have a good evening,
Caitx

The pic is by Barrie Maguire, an Irish American artist.

Re:
Milla's Avatar I missed it too - was it over this weekend when I didn't log on? Glad you had a good time. Plants a wise purchase always. Clothes not my bag. Yes, g gloves hardly worth getting out of the packet. BUT, but but, isn't the poem thing a tricky one - ole Wendy Cope has been getting frightfully furious in the papers about copyright and poems being handed round on t'internet and poets not getting their cash. Just a thought as would hate you to get into trouble when all you want to do is spread the word. Don't know Jack Sav. Am v much enjoying Elbow's new CD though.

Re:
Cait's Avatar I have never posted a Wendy CopeVery Happy

Seriously though, I am hopefully promoting a love of literature and bringing pleasure at the same time, by printing the odd poem.

Poetry is a main passion of mine and I happen to think the Internet is a powerful tool for introducing people to it and for its promotion far and wide. I only print a poem if it really moves me enough to do so. Many are not affected by copyright. I also post my own poems.

I have been introduced to so many poets through the internet and have subsequently bought books by these poets. If I had not been surfing around I would not have discovered Salmon the Irish publishers for example. It is their anthology that I am buying and I have had a link to their company on my site for a year now.

I think poets should embrace the positive. Very few of them are going to beome rich by writing poetry, internet or no internet and like the new musicians these days, they could become successful by word of mouth or rather the World Wide Web spreading their talents around.

What do others think?

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Hello Cait,

Thank you for your kind words, so pleased you had a lovely day.

Poetry is definately a passion of mine, can not exist without them. I have posted some Poems by other Poets, I think it is a good thing to let others know of many a beautiful word penned by author, I have too wrote and posted some of my Poems.

Wendy Cope book of Poetry was given to me by an ex-patient years ago, although I could not compare it to the works of Keats.
