Cowart's Common Room
8 New Years Resolutions That Might Change 2008

1. Spend ten minutes memorising your bank account numbers and sort code and your NI number. This will probably save you at least the sum of 2 days this year.
2. If you don’t have a filing system: just buy some cardboard files and get into the habit of filing. BORING yes……..but you will probably save yourself the equivalent of 3 days this year searching for or replacing essential bits of paper.
3. Before you throw the Xmas cards: go through them and make sure you have the addresses of everyone who has sent you a card that you wish to reciprocate. Load these onto the ‘labels’ programme on Word. Next year just print off the labels to attach to Xmas card envelopes. This will save you 1 hour next Xmas. And a lot of stress.
4. What else has wasted you the most time this year? Time is our most precious commodity….learn not to waste it. Think about your bad habits and create devices or systems to guide you through those.
5. Think back over the last year. What caused the most arguments in your household? Get the family to list them if you dare. Facing them together is a bit dodgy but very revealing…..can you? Do you want to? Even asking these questions is a good exercise.
6. Is there a resolution or a wish you keep making that never happens? Make this the year you address this. Is it really what you want? If so- is it really achievable? If you admit it isn’t, it takes courage to move on. If it is really something you could make a reality……..make this the year to address the reason why you havn’t and make plans to get there. Life is nothing without hope. But to keep hoping might preclude living? Let’s make this the year we embrace the life we have. We can’t guarantee another one.
7. Decide what you want to do with the time you are not wasting.
8. Do it.

A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL - MAKE THIS YEAR COUNT!
