Cowart's Common Room
Huston we have yet another problem!

Sadly our character duck Mrs Pemberton died this afternoon after many years of ruling the lane where we live, the cats, the wild birds...you name it she ruled it! She was on her third husband ...Mr Philpott the Third....who is now bereft! Since she has been ill he has taken to talking to his reflection in the summerhouse window.
We have made a concious decision not to replace any of our menagerie as natural wastage takes over ....so is there anyone within a sensible driving distance that may have ducks ...he is a big Aylesbury...that would have a home for Mr Phillpott the Third ...he is used to being put in a kennel at night and is two years old...bless him.
Or should this read .....toy boy on the block looking for relationship, days out and loadsa water sports........?Uploaded Image

Peterwf's Avatar Sad news, unfortunately my male (the small white one in picture) would not tolerate another male.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Oh bless! I love ducks and if we ever bought the Mill down in France it would be full of them, quacking away on the Mill Pond and pecking at the windows for grub. Whether they would survive the foxes though is another matter - or indeed the human hunters that blast away at anything that moves. Soooo beautiful and serene.

Sadly I'm not therefore in a position to help, so why I am answering your post I know not.

Re:
Grouse's Avatar I'm sorry- you did your best, SBS. I do know someone who might have him so if a sensible drive isnt possible we will have to discuss something totally impracticle (but might be fun)

No change with Heggety

Re:
Mountainear's Avatar Husband is being all sensible and unhelpful and says NOT.

Sorry SBS. I could think of a couple of places where, under cover of darkness he could find a new home........

Re:
Camilla's Avatar O such terribly sad news SBS,I just adore the Ducks, and poor Mr Pemberton now alone without his loved one.

Wish I could help SBS, there is a large Duck Pond about 2 miles from us in the village, it is situated in a beautiful spot next to a Church. I often stop and watch them as I am passing through. Lots of different Ducks there including Mallards. We live in Norfolk.

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Oh so very very sorry - I do hope you find him a good home - one that you are happy with as well as him. Completely understand the natural wastage - we have two hens and two sheep and will not replace those when they go.

Re:
Pondside's Avatar So sorry SBS. We have three lonely drakes in our ponds - the gals were all carried off by eagles. I'm having the hardest time finding replacements and can't really believe that the boys continue to hang around our ponds - must be the three squares a day!!

Re:
Exmoorjane's Avatar Love ducks and wish we could offer a home for poor Mr P - but he'd be just as lonely here - and would chortle mightily at the pathetic size of our pond.
