Cowart's Common Room
Church children's program

Our church's children's Christmas program is this morning with yours truly as the director. We've been teaching and practicing for 6 weeks, once a week, and I don't think we're any closer to the children really understanding why they're doing what they're doing. Nearly 50 children and 20 of them preschoolers being coordinated and in the right spots at the right time for 45 minutes! They're all so adorable and everyone is doing more than one thing--no single shining stars. (Thank you, Crystal, for helping me keep the focus on the children and not on the production. It was a well-timed reminder, even though it wasn't a good day for you and Amy.) The sun's not up yet and I'm wide awake worrying about details that no one will remember and that the children don't even care about. It will be fine, I'm sure, all the parents will be pleased to see their little ones up there, God will be delighted with the little people that He created, and when it's over, I'm taking a nice long nap and swearing I'll never do another one--even though I've been doing this for over 20 years. Think about me and all the children today. I need your good thoughts!!

Peterwf's Avatar Prayer is always a good starting point for such things.
You will all be in mine.

Pondside's Avatar By my reckoning, with the time difference, you should be in the thick of it now Wooly. I hope it is all going well - everyone will be thrilled, I'm sure. How can you go wrong with a children's Christmas program??? You'll be a star with all those parents!

Crystal Jigsaw's Avatar People will be watching the children rather than the production. Their own children to be precise. You have cared enough to make this happen so you should be very proud of yourself whatever happens.

But I am sure it will be a huge success.
Best wishes, Crystal xx
