Cowart's Common Room

I have just watched Housewife 49' on DVD, written and starring Victoria Wood. As The Guardian says - 'An absolute gem of a play by Victoria Wood. 'Heartbreaking, uplifting and superbly acted.

Victoria Wood writes and stars in this poignant drama about an ordinary woman whose life is transformed by the Second World War. In a true story based on a Mass Observation diary, housewife Nella Last is trapped in a difficult marriage, and dreads her beloved son going away to fight at the outbreak of the war. Meanwhile the supported companionship she finds at the Women's Voluntary Service, in particular from the formidable Mrs Waite, (actress - Stephanie Cole - Waiting for God), bring joy and liberation and help diminish her nerves.

Heavy rain here all day, Daisy refused to go out for a walk, wild horses would'nt budge her, she loathes getting wet. So I had to keep popping her outside, she did not like that either.

If you can't sleep and there are others on line then have a natter here.

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams.

Frances's Avatar Cold, crispy day here today, a perfect environment for the shop. Ladies buying warm clothes for themselves, but lots of folks male and female, beginning to do some Christmas shopping.

We've been doing lots of gift wrapping today, in our rather minimalist style. Pretty, but a bit austere.

Look at all the folks still awake.

Frances's Avatar Hello again, think my last reply was lost to the late night ozone.

Camilla, are you looking for a dressy statement outfit, or casual elegance to wear at home, or even a bit of color to brighten up the holiday?

The chat room was fun!

And ... I just saw that Lixtroll has a blog.

What a night.

Camilla's Avatar Thank you Dear Westerwitch,

The DVD a friend bought me as gift last year, if you have not seen it already, some great acting, and brilliant play of a true story.

I really enjoyed the fun chat, thank you. Oooh, have I missed something, has HS got another photo shoot?

Camilla's Avatar Hello Frances,

Casual elegance sounds fun, saw a lovely dark Purple Wool Skirt which is calf-length, thought it would suit with Angora Sweater. Purchased a gorgeous Black Silk Blouse last Christmas with Taffetta sleeves.

Will be spending Christmas day at our daughter's house, my son who will be over from London, is cooking the meal although we will help of course. May have some evenings out in the local Restaurant too. Not sure though, as we are moving house and lady wants to move into ours by the end of the first week of January. I have so much to sort out and so much packing to do.

It was lovely to see all on chat room, great fun.!

Oh Lixtroll has blog, Camilla rushing off to see.........

Night Night, Frances.

Kat's Avatar So it must be the middle of the night in the rest of the world...I'm the only one on line here in the common room. Can't sleep, the dog's in the middle of the bed, the Mr. has a bad stomach...spell that G-A-S...and I find myself looking looking looking for something interesting to read! Just finished "Spy", by Ted Bell, very good read, looking now through Angels and Demons (Dan Brown of the Da Vinci Code) and thinking it looks good, too...crap, where's my reading glasses when I need them...

Camilla's Avatar Oh it's lovely to see you back again Kat, I had wondered where you had got to.

What do you think of the Da Vinci Code book? was thinking of borowing it from the library, but I am a slow reader, and have so many others to catch up on. I am always losing my glasses, I need to get a second pair I think.
