Cowart's Common Room
Countryfile 11am Sunday

Tomorrow morning Countryfile is featuring a little bit of Shropshire...the ancient holly forest that is up on the hill behind us...I have shown Bodran the old trees with their zinc ear tags that day she arrived out of the ether on her turquoise scooter..........Uploaded Image

Re:
Frances's Avatar Please do tell this city person, what is a zink ear tag?

This city person really does love that photo, and so wishes that it was just possible to walk right into the picture!

Re:
Snailbeachshepherdess's Avatar A zinc ear tag......well its like this ...agricultural regulations decree that all animals must have ear tags and they come in all colours and sizes......English Nature have cataloged the ancient holly forest and ...guess what? They have tagged all the trees with little zinc tags with a little number on ......how ever did we manage for 300 years without them????Rolling Eyes

Re:
Frances's Avatar Thank you so much for the explanation.
I really do get a continuing education on this site!
Wish that I could answer your final question, but we have those sorts of questions over here, too. I could really get on to a soapbox, but will leave that for another day.
