Cowart's Common Room
Doesn't life get in the way?

I am feeling very out of touch (congratulations UPL, sorry to have missed party!) and am hating the fact that I haven't blogged for nearly two weeks. I have tried and failed to keep up with others - sorry if I have missed you! It does leave a hole.
Things are conspiring against me:
1.computer showed the black screen of death about a week ago. Me: why not buy a new one? Ian: hours and hours spent trying to nurse it back to life. Yes, I know his is the good and green response but it's driving me crazy.
2.No 2 son and his new fiancee came for the weekend. Lovely but the engagement of my lovely son has all happened so quickly I really want to get to know her. so try to give this time but am hampered by
3. Welsh Tourist Board have sprung an inspection visit on us for the cottage for this Thursday. This is weird as we only bought the cottage because it came with the house and was an extra place to put huge family and extended family when they came visiting. Have somehow also been unable to resist renting it out to nice people and having a sense of how nice it will be to have some extra income when I stop work. The moment you fall for that you have to admit that the 5 star rating matters so we have spent hours/days cleaning/mending/replacing things. Why is cottage so lovely and house so gently tatty?
Hi ho, also choir/Welsh/hanging on to work by skin of teeth.
I have really missed the sense of being in touch. Love the Welsh ponies CCA, I am sure yours will be beautiful. We have some in the surrounding fields belonging to our neighbours at the farm and they are just beautiful.
With luck, the inspection will be ok (or over) and we can focus on not being ready for Christmas!

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Eeeerrrrggghhh - why do men bother trying to resurrect computers . . .even if you succed it is never the same and you know that eventually you will end up replacing it.

Hope you get on well with Son no 2 Fiancee.

We were with Scottish Tourist Board - very expensive form of advertising - dreaded the QA visits - got very few bookings through TB. Left after being called a liar by the QA chief at a meeting - this year has been busier than ever . . .sticks two fingers up . . . Embarassed

Visit us when you can . . .

Unpeuloufoque's Avatar Life does in deed get in the way, I havent blogged for weeks, have barely had a chance to read anyones let alone comment or spend much time on here at all and someone tells me christmas is coming so hadnt I better do something about that pretty quick!

Work, family, house, animals ,everything conspires to keep one busy but isnt it wonderful that we have a real life to live as well as this rather ethereal cyber one !

Enjoy the newly expanding family, and live life to the full adn dont worry I am sure you will alwasy find a ewlcome here no matter how long real life keeps you away!

Re:
Elizabethm's Avatar Aargh, but the last one was really nice and the pigsties are full of logs and I am not a natural poker. Intend to charm the socks of him (and if that doesnt work will set the chickens on him - Ormerod the cockerel can be quite scary).

Re:
Snailbeachshepherdess's Avatar Omerod is far too nice to be scary .....no I think if charm doesnt work it will have to be the pigsty....logs and all!Uploaded Image

Re:
Frances's Avatar I like what you have written. Real life does contain so many demands. Some of these demands are delightful, others are just demands.

I think that being able to turn to this site, when the mood and the time and maybe even the Moon set a good time, is just so ideal.

There are an exceptional bunch of folks who turn up here regularly. They really do listen, and really do seem to offer wise counsel, lots of laughs, all sorts of strange and helpful information.

And, if one has been absent for a while, it makes not a bit of difference. There is always a warm welcome!

Fennie's Avatar Well I've just bough a new computer - a Mac - and kept th old PC for business. Th Mac is much faster for anything connected with the internet. I ave hours of time. Would recommend one.

Faith's Avatar What a lovely post Frances, and I liked what you put on the Life is Short thread too.

Don't worry Elizabeth - Purplecoo never shuts its doors.

Re:
Mountainear's Avatar Isn't Ormerod a splendid name for a splendid bird?

I'm sure everything will get done - and at some point, probably late on Christmas Eve when it's too late to buy/decorate/prepare anything else, you will be able to sit around the fire and take a deep and contented breath. As our American friends would say: 'Happy Holidays'

Re:
As always you strike that chord Elizabeth...I feel so bad at present for not keeping up to date or blogging, even when I have been genuinely ill, but there really do seem to be so many demands on our time.

However I love Frances post too-so true that this site is so relaxed that any fretting is only on my own part and certainly none of the lovely people on this site think any less or dissaprove. We all go through different stages too.
Hopefully when I have got on top of my christmas orders I will be able to hibernate for the 1st 3 months of next year!! Will be on the site a lot more and one of my resolutions is to DO MORE WRITING!!

But I know what you mean about keeping in touch and I hope we shall all meet up again soon.

Good luck with Thursday, not that you will need it...both the cottage and your home are beautiful.

xx

BTW-SBS-Omerand is glorious!! Will have to paint him!!...x
