Cowart's Common Room
Be Careful What You Wish For .....

As some of you will know, I have been gritting my teeth lately and trying to jump back into the world of paid employment. I have finally managed to land myself a very nice freelance contract which will keep my nose to the grindstone for the next couple of months at least, and, hurrah, can be done at home more or less around school hours (apart from the odd visit to client offices). From a financial point of view it is manna from heaven, as the purse-strings were getting very strained here in Suffolk, what with Christmas on the horizon as well, but did I drop to my knees in gratitude and thank the universe for this opportunity with all my grateful little heart? Oh no. All I could think about was 'how will I get all my Christmas shopping done now?' and, more importantly, 'WHAT ABOUT PURPLECOO?' I shall have to be very strict with myself and stop my fingers from hovering over the mouse to open this page instead of doing my work. So I apologise in advance for my absence over the coming weeks and for not keeping up with blogs, I will try and pop in from time to time, and I'm gutted I missed the party last night. I was there in spirit, of course, and well done again to UPL.

Re:
Milla's Avatar oh congratulations SM!! Someone who has actually done something about it! You star. Am very proud of you (and a bit envious - though know what you mean about the timing). What sort of work is it??

Re:
Suffolkmum's Avatar Thanks Milla - of course I haven't actually submitted any work yet, so it may well all end in tears (ever the optimist!) and I'll have to get WW to poke them in the eye. It's copywriting/PR strategy, that sort of thing, for a marketing consultancy.

Re:
ChrisH's Avatar Very well done, SM. I miss everyone too - I've only been able to nip in for the briefest visits and apologise for not managing to read blogs.

Whatever is in the water at Purple Coo that's inspiring everyone else to pop out novels at a rate of knots it hasn't reached me yet! I'm still plodding along - but I'm slowly getting there.

Elizabethm's Avatar That is fantastic - good for you. It is not easy to make the leap back. I am sure you will do a fantastic job for them and being able to be at home is just right. Make sure you allow yourself some time off every day - half an hour with a cup of coffee and purplecoo will save your sanity!

KittyB's Avatar How fab, well done, but I know what you mean! I'm the same, desperate for a bit more cash, but I find work does get in the way of life somewhat... very inconvenient!
