Cowart's Common Room
Calling all dog lovers!

Considering that we're all so taken with our dogs, I thought I'd give you a mystery to read that will tickle you and feed your dog loving natures. It's called A Dog About Town, by J.F. Englert. It's about a dog named Randolph who describes himself as a "sentient being" and talks about his efforts to both solve a mysterious death and to communicate with his master (via Alphabits cereal) and other dogs. As the narrator, Randolph uses phrases like sidewalk pate', and doing "the numbers", to conjure hilarious images of life as an intelligent dog living in a world of dense human beings. Randolph considers himself the Sherlock Holmes of the dog world. There's a supernatural element to it as well. All in all, a hilarious and refreshing read.
