Cowart's Common Room
Kids magazines

Due to her divorce my eldest daughter has moved further away from me so I don't see the kids as often as I did (though they are staying with me now).

I write to them and send them things through the post - and I wanted to set up magazine subscriptions for them (boy 8, 9 at Christmas - girl nearly 7). I thought of National Geographic Kids - has anyone any experience of this? Any other ideas? I can't find anything I think our little girl would like.

Thanks for your help,

Faith x

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar The only magazine subs I've ever had are the Artist and Illustrator and I used to get the Hugglets magazine - not a clue otherwise so I'm not much help either. Rolling EyesVery Happy
Nice idea though.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar I suppose it depends on what the children's interests are. Theo would love a Minecraft magazine or one on parrots. Beanie would like one that gave her tips on how to annoy her brother (not though that she needs any)!

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar Good grief! I've just had a trawl through whats on offer for 7 year old girls and my goodness what a lot of troc! Blink
I wouldn't have thanked you for any of them at 7 years old - I would however have loved any of the sewing or arty & crafty magazines meant for adults so perhaps that's the way to go.
Have a think about her interests and don't tie yourself to magazines aimed just at children, she's likely to enjoy an adults one just as much if it's a favourite hobby.

Re:
Faith's Avatar I used to get the Hugglets one too FN - we used to love the Hugglets BearFest at Kensington.

I am really stuck - even adults ones are not suitable FN though she loves cats, maybe a cat one?

Faith, I have seen this educational magazine advertised and wondered about getting it for my grandchildren.
Take a look at Aquila
