Cowart's Common Room

A lovely morning, visiting Kirkharle Courtyard. The old buildings associated with the long gone house have been converted into boutiques and workshops, with a coffee shop and a meeting/conference room.
Some years ago the owner found a plan in an old desk, which was done by Capability Brown. CB was born in the small village, baptised in the Church, walked the 5 miles or so to Cambo School and worked for a while in the gardens, before going off to many years of garden design and fame.
After a huge amount of work and fund raising, the plan has been partly created. Only partly as the A696 now cuts across the site. The 6 of us, with Peppa the yellow lab, had a lovely walk round the lake, being amazed by how fast the trees, all marked on the plan, are growing. CB planned and planted for at least a century ahead, so I am afraid we will not see its mature form!

Withy Brook's Avatar I hope you get there, Blossom. If I am still in the land of the living, come and see us too! We are only 1/4 hour away by car. The Church is Grade 1 listed and well worth a visit too, just a short walk beyond the Courtyard.
Northumberland is full of hidden gems, so worth a proper visit.
