Cowart's Common Room

And who should this be marching down the road in 33 degree heat of Lorient and in full costume but the Ullapool and District pipe band. One of about 70 pipe bands. Mostly Breton but with contributions from the celtic diaspora. The Bretons were fun, and with a contingent of dancers always in their traditional costume, the ladies in long skirts and traditional lace 'coiffes,' if that is the right English word. Every town has its own variant of the lace wear. The ladies turned in circles on the spot like dolls on a roundabout. How they managed in the heat I do not know.

I am at Nantes airport now. Wifi has been difficult to find. Still very hot. A great spirit at the festival. So many people. So much camaraderie among the Celts! Wales this year's favoured nation - we even ate fish and chips at one point and most excellent they were too, though they were local rather than Cymric fish and potatoes ditto.

Everytghing very social, This morning we were out to breakfast with friends in Clisson at 9am. Often been invited to lunch or supper but never to breakfast of croissants coffee, bread and jam and sweet meats.
Am now quite exhausted.Very HappyVery Happy
