Cowart's Common Room
I Can't Sleep Chat Post

Hello Owls and Larks.

Phew what a scorcher of a day!

21 degrees tonight at the moment with a clear sky and light winds but another hot day tomorrow.

Hope our Fennie has had a safe journey to the Lorient perhaps he is cooling off in the bar with an iced cold lager at the moment.

Patch much better today although he is still on medication for his ear infection I have made up a patients chart for him, but he has been a brave little soldier bless him. Much too hot for his walkies unless it's before the sun is up AM and then again cooler in evening when sun has gone down. The trusty fan is working overtime too here.

If you can't sleep and there are others on line then have a natter here.

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams

Camilla's Avatar Last Sunday it was our local annual Village Garage sale where residents could sell their items of choice. It began at 9am until 4pm but sadly we were unlucky with the weather as it rained on and off for most of the day. I walked round the village with a neighbour friend and bought some pretty fabric some to use as a table runner and some to cover an Ottaman. Just before we headed back home we went to the last house where a kind lady who is a trained artist was selling some paintings which were hung up and displayed on her studio wall. Came away with a small painting of beach huts and another much larger one of boats sailing with lovely blue wooden frame .

The lady tells me she is moving to Suffolk soon but she kindly popped a handmade card with her full name and new address on and said my friend and I are welcome to visit her for a cup of tea and look at any of her art work at the studio beach hut .

Fairy Nuff's Avatar I should think Fennie will need a chilled beer today it's meant to be one of the hottest on record in Europe. Shocked

A little cooler up here the last few days - just nice - and a little overnight drizzle, still not enough for the reservoirs though.

Withy Brook's Avatar I could do with it a little hotter here! Although it has been as dry, we have had it cooler than most of you here. Expecting heavy rain and possibly thunder this morning but a much better afternoon.
So glad that Patch is on the mend. It is so hard when you have a dog that will not tolerate being given pills/ear drops etc.

Camilla's Avatar Morning FN and everyone,

Eek! Have had to close the windows and garden doors we have millions of flying white winged ants flying around outside in the garden. The last time I remember seeing these insects was when I was living in London in the late sixties . Perhaps FN you could give some advice on them. Is it World Ant Day where they come out to mate I am sure too that they have appeared because of the extreme heat we are having and also after a few days of rain even though the temperature is very high still. I think they bite too. I hear that the Seagulls love to feast on them too in the air, rich pickings !

Camilla's Avatar Wish I lived where you are Withy, it's too hot for me here I am not good with the extreme heat. Have been reading up on tips to stay cool not to drink too much caffeine during the day is good and wear loose clothing preferably light coloured clothing and cotton or linen, not to expose too much bare body so cover up. It's 24 degrees here today but it feels like 30 degrees .

Thank you Withy re Patch, pills I have no problem with as I disguise in a small piece of meat it's the drops that are a problem .

Fennie's Avatar Your Fennie is indeed enjoying a cold lager beer after a hunt for a wifi signal and finally finding one in the station hotel. Yesterday was very hot, 34 degrees at Nantes airport but the house is cold. Cooler in the evening when eight of us sat in the garden enjoying drinks and nibbles until 11 pm. I admit for the last hour I was looking glazed with my French having given up. Why should travelling make you tired? We go up to Lorient tomorrow.

We (or at least I) were drinking 'Kir Breton' - a drink I hadn't had before - dry cider with a slug of cassis (blackcurrant liqueur). Most refreshing. Now I must attend to my emails of which I see I have 23.

Best doggy wishes to Patch.Very HappyVery Happy

Camilla's Avatar Glad you arrived safely Fennie wonder if that Cider is sold in the UK not that I am a Cider drinker. Hope you slept well after your journey, travelling always makes me tired too.

Thanks for your best wishes for little Patch.Very Happy
