Cowart's Common Room
I Can't Sleep Chat Post

Hello Owls and Larks,

Hope everyone had a good day, quite a few rain showers today but interrupted with sunny spells too, the wind got up later and was quite bracing walking over the dunes with Patch.

Off to land of nod soon, taking FN's advice and having a wheat biscuit instead of my small piece of choc sometimes, can't do without my cuppa though but no coffee have instead now only a coffee mid morning.Very Happy

If you can't sleep and there are others on line then have a natter here.

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams

Fennie's Avatar I am the same Camilla - both with the coffee and biscuits and watching for pictures in the fire.

A quietish day yesterday but enlivened by my French conversation class in the morning and then later a visit to the doctor where I have at last and almost bu accident been given some special tablets to aid my ailing digestion. Anyway had a good nice sleep for once and feel human again this morning, the black dog fast asleep and slumbering in his basket. Outside the sky is blue and the air still; inside the central heating driven by the thermostat has come on gently to take the night chill off the house and warm the bathroom. Sadly I noticed the other day that my shower is again leaking though how and from where I do not know. Maybe I should get out of the habit of having a shower everyday. It isn't really necessary and I would save on water and gas, especially as I never have a 'quick' shower but always a 'slow' shower. I am amazed that I am not washed quite away. But you don't want to know all that. Have to take J for an INR test this morning and then a Town Twinning Committee this evening. In between a long to do list including two lots of printing. Have a good day everyone. Thanks for posting, Camilla. Very HappyVery Happy

Fairy Nuff's Avatar Nothing quite like an open fire, wood burning stoves may be more efficient but then you can't see the flames.

A leaking shower is such a pain trying to find out where the leak is when water can travel so far. Confused

Withy Brook's Avatar I am lost without my bath every night! Hope you find the leak. Don't see how less showers is going to help - just less water about in the long term!
I love watching a flickering log Fire too, but we seldom have one nowadays. OH decided he did not want the work when he retired, 20-odd years ago!

Camilla's Avatar Morning Fennie, FN, Withy, and everyone,

We have two showers in the cottage one on the second floor in the big bathroom with bath WC and big wash basin and one shower all on its own very top of the cottage on third floor it's really a wet room complete with WC and large wash basin.Very Happy I love my baths with bubbles and a long soak but have a quick shower in very hot summer . Hope you manage to find what is the cause of the leak Fennie I have a slow dripping tap in the kitchen must get round to sorting out a new washer for that soon.

Pleased you had a good nights sleep Fennie all for making one feel more human again by morning. Best of luck to 'J' with her INR test this morning. Hope the new tabs help too Fennie I take one daily prescribed by my GP for acid reflux called Omeprazole 20 mgm capsule.

Camilla's Avatar Miss my big open fire with large woodburner FN we used to burn big logs in it but you could also burn coal too. Here in our new cottage it's all underfloor heating which I loathe so to make up for my lost fire I bought a lookalike woodburner in a Barley colour you can switch it on to heat if you like and can see the imitation logs alight and also it has a flickering flame too. We hardly use it for the heat as the cottage is always warm with the insulation throughout but I like to have the woodburner on just without the heat to see the flame affect.Very Happy but I would rather have the real thing.

Camilla's Avatar That's the only thing isn't it Withy with real fires having to clear out all the ashes and remake up and of course the annual chimney sweep cleaning too .Very Happy

Fairy Nuff's Avatar I wouldn't mind the cleaning out of the grate, so long as I wasn't rushing off to work afterwards.
There's something quite meditative about setting a fire.
