Cowart's Common Room
Black and White Animal Convention

Here is a picture of Camilla reading when she should of course be gardening. That's the trouble with belonging to book clubs, especially one in which they read racy novels. Lampie never gives us anything racy so we just have to get on with the gardening.

I have lots of gardening to do, my own gardening as opposed to the Town's, but it is pouring with rain and so not an auspicious time, but I'll have to do it before the weekend when the gang is descending for Sunday lunch. I might have started it yesterday when it wasn't raining but I went for a walk instead and coming back from the walk something very odd happened, which had I been superstitious I might have reckoned as containing enough portents to sink a battleship.

I turned the corner of the suburban street that leads towards my house and there lying in the gutter was a black and white cat. Not six feet away a magpie was pecking up and down for something or other in the road. And above them a second magpie sat in a low tree making a general chattering racket.

The cat began to wag its tail but the magpie in the road did not appear to notice and the magpie in the tree went on chattering as though it were on the phone to someone. At this point, fearing the cat was about to pounce, I made some atavistic clicking noise, whereupon the magpie in the tree started to screech, the cat ran away and the magpie in the road flew to the tree to join in the screeching. And they were screeching at me! Not a word of thanks for saving them from feline paws and the cat as it ran off gave me such a dirty look that I positively shrivelled in my shoes. It was a look that even Mrs May - queen of dirty looks - would have been proud of.

Well I suppose I had broken up the black and white animal convention and who knows what might happen to the world if cats and magpies started collaborating, the cats opening the cat flaps for magpies to come in and steal the jewellery, then all putting a can of Felix (or is it Sheba) on the barbie and tucking in. Doesn't bear thinking about.

It is still raining so I think I shall go for a walk behind the hoover. Anyway have a good afternoon. It feels like Friday though it is only Thursday (I have checked the calendar). Have a good evening folksVery HappyVery Happy

Re:
Withy Brook's Avatar I think you broke up a witches convention, or whatever they call it.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar But the screeching was like a horror film - so probably you are right Withy - a witches' convention. Shocked

Camilla's Avatar Thank you for posting Fennie what an interesting post too. Great pic Fennie, don't often hear the Christian name Monica anymore. I thought it was today tor Fennie.

Don't usually watch medic stuff in the way of film or documentary but I did tonight all about 999 and the paramedics who liaise with emergencys calls in Manchester.
