Cowart's Common Room
Sunset Lark

Uploaded Image

Another sunset picture to dazzle you or to make you yawn perhaps. At the other end of the picture, behind the camera as it were, we were sitting enjoying gin and tonics as we watched the earth coming up. Portsmouth's spinnaker tower was aimed right at the sun for it is old Pompey that you can just make out on the skyline. This wasn't Chichester but somewhere rather to the south - directly on the shore anyway. You step out of the garden and on to the beach.

Arrived back yesterday and today the weather is raining, which isn't a problem as we have to catch up madly so as to be ready for Monday. But the trouble is with holidays that you need a long spell at work to recover from them. Very Happy

Our friends have lived all over the world in many different countries during his career with the UN and their lovely house is stuffed full of pictures, photographs and artifacts from far flung places. It is a modern house but deceptively spacious and beautifully comfortable - a most interesting and relaxing house. Very HappyVery Happy

Withy Brook's Avatar Somewhere near Selsay? My daughter lived there for a number of years, before they moved back up to York.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Yes not far away, Withy. Actually Bracklesham. And the picture was taken in their garden which shows how close they are to the sea. Just hope no tsunamis come hurtling up the Channel.Very Happy

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar Nice spot for a house. Very Happy
One quarter of my family come from Pompey, my Great and Great Great Grandfather were at the Naval Training base there.

We were out at Cromarty last night so missed the sunset while at HO's talk to the Sea Kayak Symposium, it was dark by the time we got home, the first time I've stopped to stargaze in the drive on months.
I timed it very nicely just as the International Space Station went overhead so I waved to the Astronauts before we went in a put the kettle on. Very Happy

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar We knew it probably wasn't the ISS of course but waved just in case so I just looked up what was passing over us last night and it was... wait for it...
SL-16 RB
Which is nothing more than an old bit of USSR space junk!
It's an old rocket body left over from a launch in 1992. Laughing

Re:
Fennie's Avatar But, but - it might have been something else and full of little green men or even astral concert goers saying 'Take me to your Lieder.' Laughing
