Cowart's Common Room
I Can't Sleep Chat Post

Hello Owls and Larks.

Just heard banging going off like fireworks in the distance. Don't think we have any Proms going on tonight perhaps it is someone's celebration.Very Happy

Beautiful day today with the weather although quite muggy at times. I met my daughter over the beach early this morning with Patch and her two dogs. We noticed an inlet of water had built up on the beach which was shallow enough for the dogs to stand in and duck under. Before we knew it all three of the dogs had jumped in.

Tomorrows weather apparently 26 degrees. Phew! Very Happy

I have decided that I am going to stay clear of cooked onions in future I love them but they don't like me, anyone else have a disagreement with onions?

Hope all owls and larks are well, off to make a brew.

If you can't sleep and there are others on line then have a natter here.

Fennie's Avatar Morning Camilla. No I have no problem with onions - at least that I know of - though

I've never wronged an onion
I know I never shall
I've never wronged an onion
I treat it as a pal
I've never wronged an onion
So tell me, tell me why
If I've never wronged an onion
Why do they make me cry?

Yes they do make me cry and that's why I tend just to slice them when cooking and not peel them. Of course there's a papery skin in the dish but that's easily picked out after cooking. Same with garlic.

Muggy day yesterday. Sat in Caffe Nero having a cappuccino while J went shopping in Waitrose opposite.

Big tiresone order for 186 reel of labels. Only 100 labels to each reel but time consuming all the same. And three heavy boxes containing 200,000 labels despatched yesterday. Business seems to be picking up again - but then we are shortly off on holiday. It was ever thus.

Got a bit of the old Black Dog, too. Taking St John's Wort and rehearsing positive thoughts madly but still feel pretty low. It will pass of course like a cloud from the sun. I have so much to be grateful for but the Black Dog hitches up with anyone at anytime. Maybe I should eat more onions! Very HappyVery Happy

Fairy Nuff's Avatar I don't like onions so I wouldn't know Camilla Laughing Not the flavour but the texture especially when they are cooked and slimy!
I don't mind if they are chopped really small so you don't notice them and on that note, Fennie... if you leave the root end undisturbed the onion won't make you cry as you chop it (or peel it).

Perhaps you could feed the onion ends to the Black Dog, it would serve him right for making you miserable. Sad

Tipping it down here just now but warm and muggy with it. Shocked screams from outside our bedroom window this morning as some of the senior school pupils got caught in an instantaneous downpour san's jackets, coats, sweatshirts or blazers... that's the price of being "cool" Laughing a soggy morning sitting steaming gently in class!

...and it was the 6th form boys, despite the girlishness of the screams!

Camilla's Avatar Morining Fennie and FN and Everyone,

Love the onion song Fennie.Very Happy

That's a big order for the labels Fennie, good to know though all good for the business to keep ticking over. Sorry to hear you have the old Black Dog shoo shoo that old Black Dog all will be fine and you will be on your hols soon relaxing by the sea with a good book, don't forget to take your note pad to write things down for that future novel Fennie.Very Happy

Camilla's Avatar Thanks for that tip on not cutting off the root of the onion first when cutting FN I always wondered why the cooks on TV never had a teary streaming face now I know why.Very Happy

Camilla's Avatar Beautiful warm morning already and not a cloud in sight and a clear blue sky. We are driving over to see our daughter and her dogs this afternoon for a couple of hours I love going there as daughter has a lovely big garden and dogs love playing about on the lawn. Will stop off on the way back at the Co-op to pick up a few groceries and look at the flowers too. I had never shopped at the Coop before but I have to pass it sometimes in the car I believe the founding store has been going since war years. I like the way they are all for ethical and have the local community in mind and all of the produce is locally sourced. Friendly staff too always very helpful.
