Cowart's Common Room
Cooking for Larks

From red road rollers, resting relics on Skye we return to the weather in the present corner of the UK which is embarking upon its third day of rain and misery, though at least this morning I can see the tall sycamore that stands 60 yards away where the town ends and the countryside begins. Yesterday it was wreathed in spectral mist. My sparrows are miserable or about as miserable as a sparrow can ever be; they are the perpetual optimists of the avian world and no doubt and if I were Mr Linnaeus I would tag them after the Latin bit with the name Pangloss.

Nothing happened yesterday very much until sheer boredom forced me out into the weather and I trudged in wellington boots through the rain to the castle and back again. After that I cooked a supper of sprouting broccoli and pasta mixed with garlic, chili and olive oil which tasted most excellent though I say it myself.

In Norfolk they are having sunshine and Mediterranean sunshine so perhaps resident owl is reclining on a sun lounger with a pine colada in hand and that is why she is not with us, but whatever you are doing dear Camilla, please return to the little fold of road rollers, anniversaries and sparrows before we batten down the hatches to await the arrival of storm Doris and its seventy mile an hour winds on Thursday. Sherry in inclemencies and vintage port in storms as the good book doesn't have it.

OK mine didn't have the chicken in it and was no doubt more burnt though it did have a good bit of parmesan in it as well.

Fairy Nuff's Avatar Glad to hear it Fennie, that one looks rather dry and unappetising.

We can currently see the other side of the Firth, not sure how long that will last though as the high wind is blowing the weather rapidly in from the west.

Sides still sore from laughing last night Omid Djalili and his friend Boothby Graffoe were just brilliant. Very Happy

Camilla's Avatar Thank you kindly for posting the Lark post Fennie.

I love pasta in any shape or form, your recipe sounds yum and of course can't be eaten unless lots of Parmesan on top too.

We have had three beautiful days of glorious sunshine and quite warm too for February however tomorrow I hear the arrival of Doris is on its way up to 90 miles an hour eek.... ! This morning here it is raining heavily, a grey old morning and not even a bird in sight from my back garden. Friday I hear this week the weather will pick up again and be a better day in Norfolk.

Have a good day whatever the weather folks.

No reclining on sun lounger Fennie with a Pina Colada although it is a lovely thought.Very Happy
