Cowart's Common Room
I Can't Sleep Chat Post

Hello Owls and Larks,

Do hope you all had a lovely weekend.

I have lost two pairs of specs and am sitting here typing this with one eye open.Very Happy not a clue where they are I had them this afternoon, perhaps they have been chucked out with the garbage...sigh.

Nice little pic for you tonight a pretty bird feeder.

Pot of tea and then bed soon... if you can't sleep and there are others on line then have a natter here.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Oh dear - that's just the sort of thing I do all the time. (Lose specs) but they always turn up, or mostly they turn up anyway, and if they are just reading specs then they are cheap enough, but maybe yours are prescription specs?

Just heading off to bed and I have realised that I haven't put out the recycling - so two boxes to organise and put out by the roadside and cover with a wooden panel and a brick to keep the rain off. Grrrrr! Is your on a Monday too? At least we 'co-mingle,' which means everythging goes in one box, paper , plastic, glass, metal etc which makes things easier.Very HappyVery Happy

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Have tried to get some music for you again but still no luck, it can't be rocket science, all to do with flash player.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar One pair of prescription specs Fennie and one pair from the chemist - 3.5 strength of lens.

Perhaps the word garbage I put up reminded you to put it out Fennie. We have to put ours out on a Monday night the refuse men arrive on a Tuesday morning around 6.30-7am. This bin will be a green one for the household rubbish, next Tuesday it will be the grey bin for recycling which includes cardboard. We are not allowed to put glass out in any bin I have two boxes full up in the garage with empty wine bottles, these I will have to take to a nearby bottle bank soon.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Well isn't that strange? We put glass in our recycling and it is all sorted automatically. A magnet picks out the metal, the glass is smashed to tiny fragments and drops through a grating, the paper and plastic - I don't know but somehow it is all sorted.

They come on a Monday now (used to be Tuesday) and anytime from 7.45 am onwards so best to put it out the night before.

Your eyes are as bad as mine Camilla for I take 3.5 diopters too. I but reading glasses from the chemist which cost about £10.

I can't post music either - not like the old days! Very HappyVery Happy

Camilla's Avatar Lovely unexpected visit from my Grandson this evening he has gone home now, such a kind considerate boy, can't believe he will be 18 in August.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Yes strange that one can't put out glass with recycling, shall have to look further into this with the council, what if you can't drive and bottle bank is some distance how can that be sorted.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Not sure about specs I think 3.5 is the highest ordinary reading.

I need to put the subtitles on when watching TV. Are you watching Good Karma Hospital?

Re:
Camilla's Avatar My daughter is one year older then your YD Fennie, and I can remember the day exactly. Friday morning in October at 7am on the dot, just in time for me to sit up with new nighty on and have my boiled egg and toast when the trolley came round on the ward.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Never understand Camilla why you and HL do not buy a second television - they are not that expensive for a small one. You could have it in your study.

As for the sub titles - they come with the programmes and there is a button on the handset. You can get subtitles on iPlayer as well - a little 's' that you click at the bottom right.

Re:
Withy Brook's Avatar Our Council do not collect glass. We have to take it to one of the deports which recently reduced their opening days with the result a huge increase in fly tipping. There is no collection for broken china, so far as I know.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar I have a small television installed on the top of my studio bedroom wall Fennie but I love to sit with Patch in the downstairs area where main TV is and Patch is not allowed upstairs. Will look on the handset for main TV re subtitles I used it on our old TV in previous house and it was fine.
