Cowart's Common Room

Boom boom! And here is the anticlimax you've all been waiting for. It's Fennie's kitchen! Doesn't really look very different to the old kitchen but we have had new wooden worktops (IKEA 60 for 2 and a half metres of beech), then orange and cream tiles with a lovely blue border separating them, a hare on the splashback behind the cooker. New cupboard doors and new matching upper and lower pelmets and plinths and the dishwasher blocked in. (Before there was a space which led under the cupboards and into which Squawk, my fledgling magpie disappeared). There's been a new cooker hood to match the cooker that was new about a year ago and there is new lighting to come. Now all we have to do is to declutter. All fitted by builder Ken. Congratulations, Ken. Another pic in the comments.

Faith's Avatar It looks great Fennie, very bright and sunny. I like the hare tiles above the cooker. It doesnt look to me like there is much de-cluttering to do Well done Ken, that was pretty quick.

Ivy's Avatar Lovely transformation, be careful with the beech worktop NEVER put any iron or non stainless steel metal on it. I have the rings and marks on mine to tell you they are permanent!

Fennie's Avatar Well we like it. It's just that if someone expected a total transformation they wouldn't see much. And the clutter rather hides the beautiful cream, blue and 'barley' (but in reality ochre) tiles. Where to put everything though. Just the lights to do now and as it's the 20th October we can go to IKEA with the 20 voucher that we received when we bought our Christmas tree there (The tree cost 26 but they give you 20 back in a voucher to spend after 20 January) and buy them. (Another hit for the poor reeling bank account - although in fact now that I come to think of it the Inland Revenue will pay for the lights as they have just sent through a refund on nearly 300. This after demanding another 500 last year and when I am about to send them another liot of dosh at the end of the month. Still, every little helps, as they don't say in Waitrose.

Ivy's Avatar Fennie your year must be ahead of mine 20th October? Already? I know once you past your mid 40's you are likely to suffer forgetfulness what ever happened to the last 8 months? I could swear it's 2 days since my birthday.Mr. Green

Very Happy Like Ivy I did laugh at the 20th October ref too! I know it feels/looks like autumn but to have missed the potential dry two months so quickly ....... !

Cadfael's Avatar It looks lovely to me Fennie and how spacious .I have a tiny kitchen affair Sad but i do have a dining room. I think a kitchen that can be used for didning to is much better.

KitKatCot's Avatar I think it looks gorgeous. I've been thinking about replacement doors for our kitchen but I didn't know what they did with the pelmets and plinths as they are the bits that have 'gone'. I didn't know that they replaced those too.

I'm going to do some research now, thank you, FennieVery Happy

Fennie's Avatar KKC - Ken the builder did it all but I think the doors and pelmets cam from Howden's - a national firm of kitchen furniture makers.
