Faith's Avatar It's a mystery - like Mystery Monday - but on a Thursday and words not pictures!Laughing

I will tell you tomorrow if no-one knows.

Fennie might be able to solve it.

Fennie's Avatar Owls?

Posted by: Fennie on 9th Jan 2014 at 11:06PM

Fennie's Avatar No, wait a minute, wasn't Wesley the owl and Alex the dog and Chicken the cat - the other two were household pets anyway. The Matthew Rice calendar this year has a January page all about owls. (He's married to Emma Bridgewater - I think).

Blackbird's Avatar ???

Faith's Avatar Fennie is near right - yes Wesley is the owl. Alex is the parrot in the book I read in 2013 - Alex & Me by Irene M. Pepperberg (very intelligent talking parrot) and Chicken is the .....can't remember crow, rook or something - in the book Corvus by Esther Woolfson that I think you recommended Fennie. Then I found a beautiful clean copy of a book with a sweet owl on it at the jumble sale last week - Wesley, the story of a Remarkable Owl - by Stacey O'Brien - and I highly recommend it to everyone. If you like owls, or birds and people then you can't fail to be fascinated. I cried when I read about Alex's death, but Wesley will touch you deeper than that. Put it on your reading list!

Fennie's Avatar Of course. Yes I remember Corvus and Chicken. I didn't connect the two. Memory not what it was, sadly.

But well done Faith for the puzzle.

Inthemud's Avatar Yes, I've read Wesley the remarkable Owl, wonderful story.
Weirdly if you google Alex, Wesley and Chicken you get a story about Alex Blood who found gravestones from church in Wesley in her chicken coop!!
