Winter is on my head, but eternal spring is in my heart.

The Anna Hummingbird stays here in Seattle throughout the winter and this, the Oregon Grape, is a favorite food source. I don't know how they stay warm.Very Happy

Sweet dreams, owls and larks alike.

Fennie's Avatar One of the great mysteries of nature - how tiny birds stay warm especially in wet or windy conditions. I guess Seattle is missing the Great Cold Vortex that is freezing everywhere else your side of the Pond.

Camilla's Avatar Lovely quote BB, thank you kindly for posting for the owls, migraine last night and hopped to bed early.Very Happy

I think the birdies feathers provide insulation against the cold, they can gorge during the fall thus giving them extra fatty layer before winter arrives.

Hope you are safe from the severe weather at the moment over the pond BB, hear Washington DC has much snow at present.
