This Flamingo thinks it's a Swan.!Very Happy

These beautiful birds usually stand on one leg and douse themselves with water to keep cool, but this 52-year-old flamingo has taken to swimming on the lakes at Slimbridge Wetland Centre in Gloucestershire, and looks like a floating pink swan.

Probably a way of keeping nice and cool during the very hot weather we have had lately.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar I am fascinated by how you know it was born in 1961? An age before the arrival of colour television even. I also want to know what is on the end of those legs - do flamingoes have webbed feet? In all my many years I have not known this.

Re:
Pimsonthelawn's Avatar Just tried a new way to shrink down the picture by using Picasa but the quality is bad. How does everyone else reduce their pictures?

Re:
Camilla's Avatar I believe Flamingo's do indeed have webbed feet Fennie, the age of the bird can probably be detected by the rings that were put on when the bird was born.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Pims, I am not very good with techy stuff, but if I have a pic saved on my files and wan't to make it smaller, just click on the chosen pic, then where it says GALLERY go and click on PAINT, then click on IMAGE, a box wil then come up and you can click on RESIZE.

Lovely pic you have posted Pims of the pink flamingo's.

Re:
Pimsonthelawn's Avatar Thank you Camilla, I will try that. I think I was probably over complicating things using Picasa.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar On reducing pics sizes - I have an icon in iPhoto (I am on a Mac) which says 'email?' and if I click on this the size of the photo reduces automatically to fit an email which appears as a new email. I can then drag the picture from this to my desktop and then scrap the email and use the picture on the desktop for PC or whatever.

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar Coloured Swans... now there's an ideaVery Happy

I think in Picasa you can resize a picture by exporting it, that way you can choose to make it 460 pixels (the Coos default size).
File > export picture to > then change things in the box that comes up

Re:
Pimsonthelawn's Avatar Thank you. FN I did that but sounds like I reduced it too much.
The email idea is great, just trying to speed up the process of putting pictures on here.

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar Sooo glad we have Photoshop it's a bit daunting at first as it can do so much but is does make things like sizing so very easy... bit expensive if that's all you use it for though!Very Happy
