Cowart's Common Room
Still not a Grownup

Having decided we have too many vehicles, we made the decision to pass the faithful Jimny on to one of our sons and replace OH's estate car with a smallish saloon. So off to a garage in Cornwall thus combining a pub lunch with a day out. OH looks at the sensible saloon cars but as if pulled by a piece of elastic keeps returning to the Jimnys. Clearly his heart just wasn't in the sensible, grownup option. Back home where we are much occupied with talk of running costs, snow, trips to the tip, ferrying dogs etc.
Finally decision made,we're not quite ready for sensible, the Jimny wins. Already missing the old one and just a 2 week wait until it's successor arrives...

Fennie's Avatar But what is a Jimny? And why Cornwall to buy a car? Seems a long way to go.

Lily's Avatar Cornwall from Devon- not far at all Fennie. Jimny is a little 4x4 jeep type thing. Love or hate them, no in between. This will be our 4th jeep type thing- sadly they no longer import the soft top version. Great in snow- which we get here on the edge of Dartmoor, also good for parking in squelchy fields etc. Basically just an excuse to feel youngVery Happy

Camilla's Avatar Had my faithful old 4x4 for 12 years now, luckily still going strong but I am sure there will come a time when a newer jallopy is needed, still has low milage on though. My son now has his first baby and has just changed his car for a new one, everyone said to him that a sensible estate or 4x4 would be good choice but son decided on a hatchback saloon instead and suits the safety of the new baby seat for it. Son is almost 42 but still in his head he is 30.!

Happy driving with the new Jimny Lily.!Very Happy

He still has it but they now also have an estate car for Her, the Girls and the DogLaughing

I don't see why you need to get a sensible car Lily?Very Happy
