Scents and sensibilities

Another lovely day here and we had a shower of rain early this morning so the smell of summer rain on hot wet soil and plants is just heavenly, one of my favourite scents.

Scent can be so evocative what do you love the smell of?

Lily's Avatar Yes, I think the smell of a just washed garden one of the best of all scents. Also love baking bread and roasting coffee beans.

Camilla's Avatar A little cooler today which is a blessing for me,Very Happy

Love the scent of freshly mown grass, heady scented roses, freshly laundered linen which has aired on the line. Baking bread and cakes and the woody scent of a bonfire on a autumn evening. Agree too FN, love the scent of summer rain on hot soil.

I remember we had this theme of favourite scents on one of our homeworks way back.

Oh, and...... Chanel Number 5 and Christian Dio'r Perfume.Very Happy

Faith's Avatar Seriously ..... like Camilla I also love Chanel No 5 and always wear it when we go out.

The doves smell sweet - unlike the corvids who eat meat. When I pick Cloud up I always kiss the top of her head and smell her.

There are so many smells how can one pick only a few, or even remember them when put on the spot - cow parsley in a hot dusty country lane, our honeysuckle arch in the garden.... all kinds of everything really. Bill likes the smell of the steam from his engine but I don't.

Fairy Nuff's Avatar Hot oil and steam... lovelyVery Happy
No, I mean it, I love the smell of an old garage workshop especially one with a wooden floor that has soaked up years of engine oil (if it had an old Morgan in it even better!)

Fennie's Avatar Hot oil and steam (now you mention it) would brin back memories of travelling to school by train and playing with traction engines. Love the smell of new cut grass and of hay and of woodsmoke, especially apple, and turf smoke. Newly baked bread, ducks, cinnamon.......

Lucky you to have a shower of rain!

Very Happy

Fairy Nuff's Avatar Peat!
How could I forget Peat!
Your mention of turf smoke reminded me Fennie, the sweet scented peat smoke, I could quite happily be pickled in it.
Very Happy
