Cowart's Common Room

FN and Withy have written magical homeworks this week so both win stars. The sense of place in FN's piece is very strong, so I guess she wins the 'Hitting the target' star. Congratulations to both.

Now I am in something of a quandary. We usually take a summer break. Would you like a break until September? Or should we carry on? Whether we do or not, do you have any ideas about the homeworks you would like to do in the future?

Are you content for me to go on playing form teacher or is anyone else willing to volunteer?

Ivy's Avatar Rosy what exactly do you mean by YES?

Arosebyanyothername's Avatar I mean confusion and perplexity! I haven't done many homeworks lately but I do think they are a nice idea so support them generally but I do like to wind up Fennie! Evil or Very Mad

Fennie's Avatar Rosie,

Write out (by hand) 100 times. 'I must do my homework and not shoot the pianist.'

Inthemud's Avatar I suggest maybe that you set a couple of possible homeworks that we can do at our leisure over the summer and they can be reviewed and marked in Sept. Then pressure is off fennie to set things and we can do it as and when we have time or idea.

Fennie's Avatar Thank you Camilla. I did see your homework and very fine it was too. I have never galloped across the sands, but have always thought it would be fun. Very Happy What do you think we should do about homework until September?

Camilla's Avatar Oh yes Fennie, definately lots of fun.Very Happy

Re homework Fennie, you have been so kind in setting this for us, perhaps good idea to set a couple of homeworks as Muddie has suggested too for the summer period, and then that gives you a rest and members to do at their leisure and marked for the review in mid-September.

Ideas for topic of Homework..... mmm, not sure.... what well known person would you choose to invite for dinner, could be more than one, and why.

Fennie's Avatar OK - the consensus seems to be that we should take a couple of homeworks away with us to the seaside and there complete then ready for handing in on the first day of next term 9 September.

Choose any 2 from the list below:

Write a celebration in verse (in not more than 16 lines) of the opening of the new football season.

Imagine you are Winne the Pooh: describe your first day of work at the Bank of England.

Imagine you are Paddington Bear: you have received a request from the Peruvian government asking your advice on whether they should give asylum to Edward Snowden (the CIA leaker of secrets). How would you reply?

Write a short guide for foreign language students on the principles of the Limerick. Illustrate with an example.

Write an alternative ending to Cinderella.

Happy holidays
