Cowart's Common Room
rite of passage

OK, younger son - he of blessed supportiveness when I was ill, to those of you who went with me through my illness blog - has rung to say he is getting married next year. Lovely girlfriend. Had already told me in February he had met the woman he would marry. Very, very exciting.
But he has only just been fretting every week about being late for Cubs, arguing for more crisps/fewer carrot sticks in his lunchbox/stripping the rubber from his bike tyres by doing wheelies. Married? Wow.

LittleBrownDog's Avatar Wow - how exciting! Glad to hear she's a lovely girl - lucky to have such a lovely mother in law. She'll be making the lunchboxes from now on.

Re:
ChrisH's Avatar Congratulations to all of you. How lovely for them that they have you on their side. A woman who describes her son's fiancee as a 'lovely girlfriend' will be a great mother-in-law.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Wonderful news, and congratulations to all of you.

My son who is nearing 36 is still a bachelor, but I think he may have found this time the woman of his dreams.

Where does the time go indeed!!

My eldest is now girl mad! There was a time (was it just yesterday?) that he only had eyes for me and his dear dog!

Wonderful news for you all. Especially that he has found someone lovely. I always worry that I'll never like the girls my boys bring home!

So good for you to have something to look forward to...

Congratulations to you all
warm wishes
xx

Re:
Suffolkmum's Avatar Congratulations to you all, how exciting, and how especially wonderful that he has good taste! I guess it could be a nightmare otherwise, she says, ghulping at the thought of my boy being married ....

Re:
Pipany's Avatar Ah how lovely Elizabeth. Who knows what age is the right one; I don't think it matters as we make mistakes and get things right whatever our age. The very best of luck to them both and what a great relationship you will have with your new DIL xx

Re:
Milla's Avatar Gorgeous news! although gulping here, too, (albeit without an expressive extra letter - am enjoying SM's alternative spellings, dropping letters (randy) adding them!!!) at the thought of big stages like that.

Re:
Many Congratulations, scary thoughts indeed, my lad is 20 in January, I am hoping he gives me at least another 10 years before conferring Mother in Law or Grandma status on me!

Re:
Ivy's Avatar Congratulations. Don't think 26 is too young. Got married on my 24th birthday with my husband still being 23 (for three months) and we are still married. but if I imagined it's only 10 years until my son turnes 26 I start gulping too..
