Cowart's Common Room

in spite of a heavy cold Sad I am going to go up to mums cabin to do some sewing. I haven't done anything since before Christmas. partly because of an earlier cold/chest infection and partly because I have been a bit up and down. It isn't the most practical of spaces being their self catering holiday cabin it will be needed at some point shortly, so I can't really move in. Also, although they are only four miles away, it is all up hill and would take about three hours to walk to! So I have to drive or B if he wants the car has to drop me off = lots of petrol. Aaand I can't be working there if B on his machine in the evening which is really when I prefer working I can rarely get going in the morning. However it is better than nothing so I should be grateful for that.
The ideal solution to me wanting, well NEEDING a sewing space was to have a static caravan down the side of the house - all services included, insulation and no need for foundation platforms, wheel it in, park up, plug in, and I'm away. I was recently offered a one for free by a local chap who has a small caravan park and needs to move it off - imagine my excitement, joy went through the roof! Very Happy I was in a very short space of time going to be having 'my space'. Imagine then the depths of my disappointment when I discovered that it is simply too wide ('only' 10ft) to fit down the side of the house - which is 10ft 2" wide so wouldn't leave any access for the oil man etc. Gutted is an understatement Sad . But today I have to do something as I want to enter a SWRI competition tomorrow night - a gardeners apron so I'm off to do that. (The other comp entries are planned: oranges for marmalade boiling away just now & rock buns will be made fresh tomorrow, I'm not entering coconut ice as I will just eat it!!)
I'm also in the throes of organising a 'Country Living' style fair which has grown since my original idea and is very exciting but I will need stock. More on that another day otherwise I won't get my apron made - planning to use vintage flowery curtain fabric - pics later if it works! I've no pattern ... as usual Rolling Eyes ... it's just in my head, Cool so will have to see if it transfers itself to reality! Laughing

Lily's Avatar So size really does matter. Could you fit in a shed somewhere? They can make a lovely garden retreat.Very Happy

Fairy Nuff's Avatar Welcome back!
Shame about the caravan, I wonder if there are smaller ones about... I can see how useful it would be to have all the utilities that come with it rather than having to sort out a shed with electricity etc.

Pattern? whats a pattern?
You sound like meVery Happy
