Cowart's Common Room
Unbelievable!

I don't know! You start writing a novel about a St Petersburg Chocolate factory and the next thing you find you've invited two of that town's citizens to supper. No, we aren't having Borscht, but I am under instruction that they don't eat carbohydrate after 5pm. Now if I put that in the novel no-one would believe me!

Re:
Lampworkbeader's Avatar An interesting evening. If you are stuck for something to cook, the hairy bikers made Lasagne using leeks instread of pasta sheets.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar We are having chicken and maybe some vegetables, too. They eat vegetables I am told even though they contain some carbohydrate. I also hope to finish off my bottle of Bailey's, which I don't really care for but the mother does (They are mother and daughter) though whether after 5pm I do not know. We shall see. I shall learn some new Russian words, no doubt and it may be an excuse to bring out the vodka that I use for cleaning the printer (though it is good quality vodka) but these days you can't just go to a chemist and buy isopropyl alcohol, which used to be known as Thawpit, which Withy might remember, but which probably was withdrawn from the market in the mid-sixties, thanks to those 'yoofs' who used to enjoy themselves getting high on it.

Sumarell's Avatar Good luck with the meal Fennie. I wanted to let you know that since you told us about your Pesto pasta with spicy prawns (just with garlic and Tabasco) I have made it twice and it has been incredibly popular! Thank you for the recipe tips! Smile

Re:
Ivy's Avatar Oh I know a lot of people who do not eat CH after 5. Cheese and meat, salads and fruit if not too sweet... If you have questions about chocolate production and or cocoa, feel free to ask .... it's what my family has been earning bread with for generations. Not in St. Petersburg though.

Re:
Withy Brook's Avatar That is a long time ago, Fennie, that I used Thawpit. Had forgotten all about it!

Arosebyanyothername's Avatar "carbs in the morning, carbs in the evening, carbs at supper time . . . " there's a song there, I think. Well, perhaps not.
