Cowart's Common Room
Good Morning

Morning. From a sunny but very breezy Dorset. Had a lot of rain overnight so any work outside will be wet work. Rat man here checking the bait boxes, perils of country life unfortunately. Hope they are all untouched.

Westerwitch's Avatar Wow you have sun???

Hope the bait boxes are untouched too - but for the rats sake Laughing We have to put poison down in the house for mice - it really upsets me doing it - but the damage they do in the house means they have to be got rid of - happily they seems to be staying away. We tried live traps and that didn't work so now have to resort to the rat man and his poison. Happily we have never had rats that would be really bad for me because I have kept pet rats and deeply admire them.

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar A lot of people here are horrified to see Rats occasionally about the village but they don't seem to understand most of them (the villagers) live 30 feet from the beach and sea defences... of course we have Rats!
Thankfully the beach seems more inviting then the houses generally.

Re:
Nothing in the house happily but they are having a feast outside. It is not something I enjoy, but I cannot have rats around with a veggie garden and little people playing outside, rats do carry horrid diseases. Until last year I had cats but have not replaced because of various family committments that meant me going away a lot, I will get a couple of 'outside boys' catwise but just need to get life a bit more settled first.

Re:
Withy Brook's Avatar Living amongst a farming community, we get rats off and on. There was a terrible time when the neighbour bought out-of-date sweets to add to his suckler food and stored it near our garden. Luckily this is now outlawed so the situation is much improved.

Arosebyanyothername's Avatar As we live near a river and shops which put out vegetable rubbish we get rats in the garden and Rufus spends many happy hours gazing out of the conservatory windows for the sight of one. He is occasionally rewarded and gets very excited. He has caught one so far.

Cowgirl's Avatar Rats are part of life in the country, but have to be shown their boundaries! My cat is pretty good at keeping them away both as a deterrent and as a terminator depsite her being 14 now.
