Cowart's Common Room
Olympic Diving

Anyone watch the finals last night? Great to see "local lad" Tom Daley win a medal, sheer euphoria radiating from the TV screen. So unlike the poor silver medallist who was close to tears for failing to win gold.

Re:
Preseli Mags's Avatar I was hoarse from cheering Mo Farah on in the 5,000 metres, then on the edge of my seat for the diving. It was so close! It was great to see his reaction to the medal. I loved the fact they threw him in the pool.

I think the Chinese divers were under a great deal of pressure. The US diver was just magnificent though. What a contest.

These Olympics really have been the best ever. I've loved every minute. Bring on the paralympics (I'm a big fan of Oscar Pistorius.)

Re:
Withy Brook's Avatar I think that Tom's reaction to a bronze was one of the highlights of the Olympics. It should scotch any "cocky" crits. I saw him this morning too and he came across soo well.
Mo was marvellous wasn't he? The whole thing has been a joy and now I am looking forward to the 'do' tonight. And the paralympics too of course - so much courage and pure pure guts.

Re:
Salle de Bain's Avatar Tom is fab...and all went wild in Plymouth. As he prepared to dive I held my breath so long I started to go blue!

What I love is that my niece and nephew who are terribly sporty live in Plymouth. He will be such an inspiration to so many local children...and hopefully that medal will make it's way around the school!
