A HoliDay and a half :)

Very Happy It is a bit silly of me to get so excited about this but I can't help it I am! B&me we don't go on holidays, financially we can't afford to and Dialysis wise it's just too problematic and difficult to get a place for him in another hospital. And anyway we live a very lovely part of the world. However having seen the Beach at St Andrews on the Opening Ceremony it got me think and wishing. St Andrews has always been my running away to place, from when I was at art college in Dundee 20+ years ago and when we lived in Fife it was easy to get to, now we're over here it is more difficlt to go regularly and I haven't been for about 6 years, just after B started dialysing in fact & I went to stay with a friend for a couple of days. As we are due to go to my cousins sons wedding on Friday near Glasgow and the dogs were already booked in to kennels for 2 nights, I started to hatch a plan. We would dialyse Wednesday morning then go to St A's in the afternoon have two nights there go to the wedding and then home on Friday and dialyse again on Saturday. So we are having a HoliDay & half a day! As I said silly to be excited about less than 48 hrs, but it has been such a Long time since we did anything like this and I love that part of the country. I can't wait to go for a long windy, sandy walk and/or paddle in the sea! B won't manage a long walk but I will get him sorted with a coffee and the paper and he can look at the view whilst I walk in it.
Meanwhile it's been shaping up to be a nice week altogether, we're going to the screen machine to see Prometheus this evening, then a friend and her small son are coming over tomorrow afternoon I suspect we will walk down to the canal basin so that F can see the boats and have tea & cake there and she can tell me about her trip to the Olympics to see the fencing.
The new HRT levels + increased AntiD's and with a holiday to look forward to I'm feeling happier today than I have done for WEEKS or even Months! Very HappyCool

Ivy's Avatar Have been to St A's in June and it was just lovely.Couldn't stay long enough but it was a lovely afternoon, before picking up daughter. Am so happy for you to have something to really look forward to. Hope the weather behaves as well for you as it did for us. The moment we parked the car it stopped raining. When we got back to the carpark it started againSmile

Re:
Salle de Bain's Avatar I love St. Andrews...had a holiday there in 1999. Beautiful place...if you see an orange Harrods golf ball washed up on the shore it's R's...he hit it into the waterLaughing.

We don't have holidays either Kate...due to the animals. I don't think it matters whether it is half a day of a month. It is the company, quality and amount of enjoyment that makes it a warm memory and a real tonic for the soul. We took one half day recently...drove to a Victorian coastal spa resort and had lunch in an amazing restaurant. Walked the beach then drove back through the mountains. Do you know...it felt as good as if we'd been on a long haul break for a fortnight!! Have fun...

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Never knew Chariots was filmed at St Andrews. I remember the castle there and the tunnel in the rock, defenders attacking besiegers. Is that St Andrews? The two tunnels slightly offset. Ages ago. Have a lovely time, Kate.

Re:
KitKatCot's Avatar Have a lovely time Kate, you deserve it, no matter how short a visit. My brother and sister-in-law were married in the university chapel at St Andrews, I have fond memories of that day.

Re:
Mountainear's Avatar Hope you have a wonderful time. A bite-size mini-break is just as good as a fortnight away - and if it proves a success you can always plan the next one!

Re:
Cowgirl's Avatar Not silly at all - I get excited about going to have a coffee in a new cafe if it is a change from the norm. Enjoy the beach - I find any beach so therapeutic, and have a nice time at the wedding. Hope you have a brilliant break away, and it all goes so smoothly that you will doing it again before too long.

Re:
Faith's Avatar It sounds wonderful Kate. Your enthusiasm really came over in this post - I started to get excited myself. I love that scene in C of F, but never been to St Andrews. The planning of something like this can be as good as the actual doing - I do hope the weather is kind for you.
