Cowart's Common Room
Morena, all!

Don't you love being up early, and alone in silence, to watch the first light streak the sky in the east, the first birdong and listen to the other birds gradually joining in? At the weekend Dave wanted to watch the opening ceremony so we had the TV on over breakfast. Lasted all of 10 mins before I couldn't stand it anymore - just jarring on my every nerve. The tv never gets switched on here till after 6pm normally - unless I'm sick, which is hardly ever.

Grey skies today - am just off to feed Ginger and two year old steer. I have him in solitary confinement due to his tendancy to wreck the ball float in troughs with his tongue. So he doesn't leave the one paddock which I have been able to make the trough Ginger-proof. As a bit of a consolation I give him half a bucket of feed every second day.Laughing

Funeral this afternoon - one of my friend's Mum. She died suddenly when in hospital for a hip replacement, post op. Sad, especially as there are family issues and my friend is estranged from his siblings. Sigh! Families ay.

Re:
Withy Brook's Avatar Funny to read of your light returning, just as our birds are going to bed, the light is fading and a huge moon is just appearing over the horizon

Re:
Cowgirl's Avatar I thought there must have been a big moon last night - it was so bright when I woke up - thought it was nearly morning but it was 3am!

Re:
Camilla's Avatar I love the silence of the morning, birds just breaking in to song.

So sorry to hear about your Mum's friend, my deepest sympathy, may she rest in peace.

Fennie's Avatar 'I don't mind a good sunrise, or a good sunset for that matter: it's the bit in-between that's so depressing.'

Not my line but Alan Bennett's - and put into the mouth of Albert, the gloomy horse from Wolverhampton whence came once one of my eight great-grandfathers.

Westerwitch's Avatar So lovely to have you back on here Very Happy

I'm rarely up early - but when I am I do love being part of it. I am a late bird and more likely to be enjoying the peace and quiet and the moon . . .

As for families . . . aye . . . sigh . . .

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar Not and early bird either but it is nice sometimes when HO drops me off at the Studio at the crack of dawn when he's off for an especially early tide or suchlike.
The village is deserted and so quiet you can hear the Dolphins blowing and even the occasional squeak.

Much more likely to be enjoying a quiet moonscape instead.
