Cowart's Common Room

No pic, I'm afraid, but let's say this is a bit of imagination exercise. I am at the stove cooking spaghetti, which is boiling away happily in the pan. I have the idea that I will serve this spaghetti with pesto which is in the fridge in a convenient, clear plastic tub, having been purchased in the farmers' market. I have an idea, which is that the pesto ought to be warmed up before adding it to the spaghetti; so far so good. I then have a flash of inspiration: I take the little plastic pot out of the fridge and I float it in the water in which the spaghetti is boiling. Needless to say the pot melts and shrinks. The pesto erupts from the pot like molten lava. Luckily, I rescue the pot before too much damage is done and while there is still some pesto left in the shrunken carcase of the pot. But my idea ought to have worked if only the plastic had been hard. Still, the meal was most excellent afterwards, though I say it myself. We ate the pesto enhanced spaghetti with spicy shrimps as a side dish. One more for the recipe book.Very HappyVery Happy

I'm wondering what you did with the shrimp?

Fennie's Avatar Oh the shrimps were fried in a little oil into which I had added Tabasco and garlic. The spaghetti and pesto works very well.

Fairy Nuff's Avatar Not so stupid would have worked if the pot was more substantial as you say.
A friends Mum in the 70s took a walls sausage advert a bit too where the Mum blew a refs whistle when the sausages were ready and the kids came runing. They then added a plastic whistle to promotional packs so you could do the same...she put the whistle in the pan with the sausages as she thought IT would whistle when they were readyBlink

Fennie, I try not to heat up the pesto as the cheese melts and coats everything. The shrimps sound lovely.Very Happy
