Cowart's Common Room
Tour de France

Not a great sports fan but do see bits of the Tour as OH enjoys following the TV coverage.
After the recent incident of the tacks on the road it was wonderful to see the level of sportsmanship which resulted. For anyone who missed this incident, the tacks caused many punctures and the front riders held back to enable those affected to catch up.
All the more refreshing in the light of the ever more shambolic build up to the Olympics.

Westerwitch's Avatar Were the tacks put there deliberately and yes how good to see genuine sportsmanship in our look after number one world!

Lily's Avatar Yes WW, deliberately thrown onto the road. Quite a history of sabotage on the routes in the past- tacks were thrown back in the 1920s apparently. More recent, heaps of manure.

Fairy Nuff's Avatar Disgruntled road users not able to go about their daily business because the road is shut?

You have one in Perthshire WW that has done the same in Blair Atholl two years running for the bike race there.

Pimsonthelawn's Avatar Love watching the Tour de France,if only to see the pretty villages and scenery, reminds me of many a lovely holiday there.

The G4S thing is very worrying.

Lampworkbeader's Avatar I live with a fanatical cyclist - for the two weeks of the tour he is glued to the TV - for the other 50 weeks of the year he is out on his bike.
It's more interesting this year though with Bradley Wiggins up front in his little yellow jersey.

Camilla's Avatar Love watching Tour de France too, my son is a keen cyclist his bike goes everywhere with him, if he is not on it then it is attached to car if he is driving.
