The Soul of the Rose

And I will make thee beds of roses
And a thousand fragrant posies;
A cap of flowers, and a kirtle
Embroider'd all with leaves of

- Marlowe

Blackbird's Avatar We're in a stretch of perfect summer weather- and enjoying it immensely.Very HappyVery Happy

I hadn't heard Paul's song before and had to listen to it several times- what a cheery melody and sentiment. I loved the glimpse of the album cover- he looks so young and happy- I think that I have that album somewhere.

'Miles and miles of English gardens
stretching past the Willow tree'

I've also always wanted a Willow tree- I should start shopping for a larger piece of property in the country so I can get planting.Very HappyVery Happy

Purple vibes and a hug going to your granddaughter- I hope that her ankle is bothering her too much.

Sweet dreams, owls and larks and I'll be there for breakfast tomorrow- late because of the time zone so save me some.

Fennie's Avatar Just cut a willow twig, Blackbird, and stick it in the ground. They must be the easiest of all plants to propagate. I remember as a child we made some fencing posts out of a willow tree that had fallen - and I think been down awhile. They all sprouted in the spring.

Lovely poem Camilla. I thought it was Shakespeare but it has an edginess to it so I am not surprised it is Marlowe. What is a kirtle? Sounds Scottish.
