Cowart's Common Room
New car

We have a new car, well new to us and only 5 months oldSmile The bad news is my lovely Landrover has gone. But just see the difference, Landy road tax 260; new car NIL. Miles per gallon Landy 30mpg (on a good day) new car 78mpg. It's a no brainer isn't it? I know someone else here mentioned the price of driving these days and it made me think. Still, I'm going to miss my LandySad

Fennie's Avatar Nothing beats a Landy does it. Just like an aeroplane.

Re:
Faith's Avatar We are selling our range rover too - won't get much for it, too expensive to buy the fuel for it.

Re:
Mountainear's Avatar Driving an Audi with a similar spec' to your landie. We bought it and it was 'top of the range', best we could get etc...then things move on and suddenly other things are rather tempting for the reasons you mention. It's a nice vehicle, ticks a lot of boxes for country living, but can't say I'm emotionally attached to it - but it has made me think. What is your new car?

Re:
Camilla's Avatar I have always loved the Landy's KKC, I am sure you will miss it, but think how much you will be saving over the year. My Rav4 4x4 only does 23 miles to the gallon, it drinks petrol, impulse buy although I have to say it has been very reliable over the years, apart from new exhaust a few days ago to be fitted, more money.!

Quite fancy a Ranger Rover Faith.! does it have a 4 litre engine, these can be pretty expensive on the fuel I know.

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar Funny how one gets so attached to cars.
One of my favourites was a beat up old Metro that MIL bought for 500 to keep us going when our Beamer died suddenly.
That rusty little heap kept us going for a year and ended its life as our wedding car bedecked in white ribbons and flowers...the last thing I reckoned it thought it would ever beVery Happy

Re:
KitKatCot's Avatar It's a Ford Fiesta Econetic. It has a 1.6 engine. I have to say I was surprised as I thought an energy efficient car would have a very small engine but it's very nippy. I also have to say that although I put the Landy in PX for the new car, Himself is actually driving it and I have got his 2 litre Golf. I love it, it goes like stinkLaughing I'm a petrol head at heartRolling Eyes
