Fennie's Avatar Is that a rat, Faith? Or is it a young squirrel that hasn't yet grown its bushy tail? They are very hard to tell apart. Anyway they need to keep an eye out of owls and other predators.Shocked

Camilla's Avatar Lovely pic Faith. Must admit the one on the right does look like Mr Ratty, same tail too.

If you can stay awake tonight late Cooers, there is a programme on at 10.15pm ITV1, presented by Griff Rhys Jones who takes a fresh look at Kenneth Grahame's classic children's book - Wind in the Willows.

Fennie's Avatar Of course it's a rat - I was just kidling (as we say). But you can just imagine baby squirrels with prehensile tails - not yet covered in fluff - all hanging upside down and the mother squirrel suckling them in that position. Makes the nest then easy to clean with the animals off the floor. But when they become teenage squirrels the tails lose their grip as their claws grow but that is why you see squirrels so often upside down.

Westerwitch's Avatar I love rats and have had them as pets - they do indeed get a bad press . . .
