Cowart's Common Room
Another Pic of the Day

Uploaded ImageHere I was yesterday morning on top of the hill known as 'The Tump.' Behind me is a clump of trees in a walled enclosure where spirits are supposed to roam. Some people say there used to be a gallows here too, so that the condemned folk would leave this world with a good view of it. Others say the gallows was at Tair Onen (Three Ash Trees) further towards Cardiff, though here would have been more convenient for the townspeople to come and watch. Anyway, we are looking south. The meadow will be full of wildflowers come June and beyond it you can see the coast and the sea which is the Bristol Channel. Beyond that again you can see the hills of Exmoor, and Lorna Doone if she is still around. Apologies for the pylons but at least we have no wind turbines - at least in this direction. Turn around and face north and you will see a dozen turbines far away on the higher hills.
