Cowart's Common Room

It's almost the 100th anniversary of the Titanic sinking. So I've just written a happy story in which the ship is rescued and doesn't actually sink at all. It's an idea I have had for a long time. The story is destined for a competition so I'll send it off tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Ivy's Avatar Wishing you luck ,despite being utterly fed up with the topic.
Did you hear about the Morgan Robertson Book Futility? It was published in 1898 it is about a seemingly unsinkable ship called TITAN that collides with an Iceberg.... spooky

Faith's Avatar Of course I wish you luck Fennie, it's a great idea - and I know of a short story comp which I will put up for anyone who might be interested asap.

Faith's Avatar PS Yes I've heard of that book Ivy. I've read 'The Loss of the SS. Titanic - Its story and its Lessons' by Lawrence Beesley. He was an English teacher, journalist and author - and a SURVIVOR of the disaster. His true account says that there was little panic as depicted in the movies etc. It was first published in 1912 and republished 2008 by Forgotten Books. Very interesting book. I am rather fed up of the topic now too, Ivy.

Mountainear's Avatar Best of luck Fennie - if anyone can give the tale a winning and alternative twist you can.

Like Ivy i'm beginning to wish the whole Titatnic bandwagon (is that a possible thing?) would sink without trace.

Fairy Nuff's Avatar Good luck Fennie, I like a happy ending.
We could do with a lot more mythbusting about the Titanic as the same old mistruths are trotted out every time...most of them made up by the press before anyone had even been interviewed.Rolling Eyes
