Fennie's Avatar If you had asked me to describe a gonk I would have said that it didn't have any legs and was covered in white or blue fur. It didn't have arms either, or not as I remember, nor a gender. A bit like and Easter Island statue, in fact, but with fur. These were early 70s gonks.

Fennie's Avatar PS Sorry to hear of the Rufus upset. A bad animal day. Emsy has had to have her cat put down (and not picked up again).Sad

KitKatCot's Avatar I'm sure if you ask Rufus he will tell you that a burglar dog broke in while he was asleep and chewed the eye off. You know it's true, Rufus has his most innocent face on. Laughing

Westerwitch's Avatar I agree with KKC and of course Rufus scared the burglar.

Arosebyanyothername's Avatar I shan't ask you to describe a Gonk, Fennie although you might be familiar with this dictionary definition:
1. To prevaricate or to embellish the truth beyond any reasonable recognition.

I have a pattern for Gonks with arms and legs and no fur.

I made my own pattern

Rufus says that 'no way was he sleeping on the job but what actually happened was the two Gonks started fighting and he was an innocent bystander to the violence.'

Fairy Nuff's Avatar Love the Gonks RosieVery Happy
We had a Gonk craze when I was in Primary School but ours were more like Cousin IT from the Adams Family...all hairy with googlie eyes hidden in the fur.

Mountainear's Avatar I remember Gonks too - I think more like your second picture Rosie. There was another thing too - were they Trolls? They had sturdy little plastic bodies and a shock of gingery hairy hair. Ring a bell with any one?

Angel's Avatar Loving those gonks!

And smiling, Rosie. This morning when I got up, Bruno (puppy) had somehow got the 'monkey' hot water bottle cover out of a drawer in our utility and removed its eyes nose and mouth. Everything else was totally in tact.

Think he'd have had a field day with some of your gonks though ;)
