Cowart's Common Room
B****y Banks!

I use Lloyds bank for my business banking. They have just introduced card readers.
Today I have to pay Tax and Nic payments online. I have been locked out of the banking system because they say I entered a wrong code number too many times. The number was NOT wrong.
I now have to wait 4 working days for a letter presumably giving me different numbers or whatever. This means I will be late with my payments. Aaaarrrrggg! If I ring them now I will have wait in a queue because they are busy (I am not surprised!) so I shall not have time to do other things that I had planned.
I think I will ring them first thing Monday morning when I have regained my composure - hopefully.

Re:
Withy Brook's Avatar I hate the card readers, not least because it means that I have to have the reader and a Debit card with my computer when I want to go into my account. The result is that my debit card then fails to return to my purse for when I want it in the shops.
I have not had trouble with the number - yet - fingers crossed.
They say it increases security. I wonder. And can't they find a less inconvenient method?

Re:
Salle de Bain's Avatar I am with LloydsTSB too Rosie. I got so infuriated by the stacking system phone queues that I badgered them for my local branch number until they finally gave in. It has made such a difference...It's great to be able to ring straight through, and talk to people that I actually know, and who know me!! I have had a much better service through said local branch method too. Blimey! they haven't given me a card reader yet...but I expect you have to have money in the bank to get one of those...probably the reason I don't have one Rolling EyesCrying or Very sadLaughing

Re:
Fennie's Avatar I am with Barclays and have been since I was a student banking my grant cheque. I have to say they are pretty good and helpful too when something goes wrong (eg my scammer wanting to pay half a fortune into my account).

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar RBS same problem with the numbers. I had put them in right, but what I had done wrong was not manually typed in the address into the browser bar . . . Apparently it doesn't like it if you start typing and then click on the example the browser brings up . . . you must type the whole thing in manually and if you don't it keeps telling you your numbers are wrong.

The who system is infuriating.
